As a tau and guard player I’m pissed. My horde army is an elite army, and my elite army is a horde army now.

The edition broke before the guard did.

I play Chaos and one silver lining of the Guard points hike is that it got me seriously looking at and adding some traitor guard to my army, seeing as mine are now cheaper than yours. Even in the darkest days, one way or another and one form another the Guard endures.

I have also been tempted to print a bunch of ogryn and a couple super heavies to dabble in guard without trying to paint over 100 infantry.

At 75pts. Every day at the corps is like a day in the barren land. Every meal a rationing. Every page is a debt. Every formation a patrol.

New Recruit has an EXPERIMENTAL 11th Edition list builder on their site.

Worth noting at 09:55, Summary Execution happens "at the start of any phase", not "during any phase". This means it takes place before the battleshock step. It's a very important ability against other factions' battleshock abilities, but it still won't stop a squad below half strength from battleshocking. Still more useful than it was in 10th, so I'll take it.

Honestly i like the idea of taking all the 1 point detachments

That Epic wind in the Background!

No amount of copium will save the infantry. Even without the points increase they just feel like a big liability to feeding your opponent objectives.

Technically commisar has 2 orders. I think this is unintentional

You can issue 1 order to a friendly abhuman unit.
This officer can issue 1 order to a regiment unit.

I think Hydras at 90 points will be a sleeper hit, especially against armies like Tau who have a lot of flying units. Hydra re-rolls mean you don't need the orders on them as much, and with their damage output and volume of fire they are good against non-flying targets as well.

Just as i was starting to build a new pure infantry army for 11th, i get the rug pulled! Thanks Mordian, some great hints and tips in there, there is still hope!

I simply shifted over from cadians to Ogryns and Bullgryns. Built a list that combines Steel Hammer with Abhuman Auxiliary detachments. The core of this list is two 6-man Ogryn units, a unit of 6 Bullgryns, 2 commissars, Stormlord for transport and securing the center with my gryns, and for an added punch an order-giving Shadowsword. I'm new to guard, but I'm still excited to play them -even feeling hopeful for a win or two

new core rules feel completly incompatible with current guard tbh its kinda crazy.

@CardboardFishGaming 3 months ago

so battleshock is before command phase, this actually helps the commissar even more I think? Shoot the guy at the start of the battle shock to pass and get rid of that problem. then you can issue orders again
