I've been asked this question multiple times and here's the answer! Here's what to buy and the best way to get started as a Tyranid player moving into 11th edition!

What I'm waiting is the usage of the building and their second floors "Plunging Fire" bonus.
Biovoves/HiveGuard: they are the kings of high altitude fire, with the [Heavy] and "Plunging Fire" combined they can shoot at any visible opponent on a 2+.
they might not look like it, but both units are pretty tough to take down and the "Benefit of Cover" just make them better.
(Biovores is the best unit, you get one and you are happy. I don't recommend the "Hive Guard" if you are not as crazy as me)
"Carnifex Tower":If it fits you can place a carnifex on the second floor of a building and have them shoot down at the enemy units with "Plunging Fire" bonus to shoot on a 3+.
Combine this absurdity with "Crusher Stampede" and your wounded "Carnifex" on the tower will shoot on a 2+.
Get yourself a "Carnifex" today and you'll receive a second one in the same box.
(I got a box of a "Carnifex" and I found 2 in it, I did not expect it and I was happy of the surprise.)
P.S.
If you started the game and you have a "Psychophage" keep using it, they are a great training unit.
"Psychophages" are a tough unit able to stay on the battlefield even against the strongest opponent.
They are like the training wheels for your army, they'll help you make the first steps and understand how to navigate the game.
You may learn from a defeat, you may learn from a victory, but you will always learn from the surviving units and the "Psychophage" is there for you.
