- A correction on the micro missile cost. The conversion is 2 USD = 1 ED, not 2 ED = 1 USD. I got em mixed up. So to convert USD to eurodollars, you have to divide by 2. The cost in US dollars may be around 700, but the cost in Eddies is actually 350 per round. Hypothetically at least. It's just a rough guestimate. It is some pretty advanced stuff, so it cost a whole lot more to make. But If they're able to greatly increase the efficiency of production, then perhaps they could be much less. Either way, I think they should be around 100 or less for gameplay reasons

I think the reason smart guns kinda suck (in the early game anyway) is because they're only gonna be used by net runners. Most of your combat ability is gonna come from turning your enemies' eyes off and setting them on fire through a CCTV camera. Smart guns are mostly there as a backup for when your brain runs out of ram and you have to do things the old fashioned way, while still allowing you to dump all your levels into intelligence

Finally... after all these years... I have them all.

In the lore, Smart Link systems tie targeting to your optics. You can't blind fire because the targeting system can't lock on to anything on its own. You need to designate targets for it, which you do by matching visual signatures to the system. It also serves as an IFF system. You don't just point in a general direction and pull the trigger. You think "this is my target", point in the general direction, and pull the trigger. Since a goodly portion of target acquisition is done by your brain, the system also can't remain locked on indefinitely. As you lose sight of targets, the system becomes less and less able to track them. If you aren't looking, you don't know if the target has run to the other side of the room or something similar, so the targeting system doesn't know either.

Smart guns are built for a netrunner build, they're NOT for pure shooters. They interface hugely with quickhacking in the upgrade tree and the perks make them incredibly powerful for high inteligence quickhacking characters.

If you're not a netrunner, they're basically the worst option, but if you are, they are by far the best.

So to be fair, CDPR did point out during previews when asked if having auto-aim would be too overpowered that the smart guns were designed for people who play RPGs but don't typicly play shooters and that the guns would be weaker to compensate.

They are quite literally training wheels for new players.

The smart gun slander is CRAZY.

My last playthrough was full netrunner, and smart guns on the highest difficulty. It was completely busted by the end game.

But I did have the problem of combat becoming boring because I could completely sweep rooms of people without even trying, so I won’t argue that they’re insanely fun to use.

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isnt.

The next game series you should cover should be Sunset Overdrive, the guns in that game are so impractical and goofy you'd have an allergic reaction

only ever used smart guns on one run, my netrunner build. The build was honestly just plain OP, the upgrade tree for smart guns makes them excessively good for causing chain reactions, especially when using something like the yinglong or pizdets for stealth
