A child is not a sex worker.  She's a victim.

Pisses me off to hear she was arrested for sex work as a minor!!! HOW does that even work? She was a victim

You can absolutely be sexually assaulted and have no physical signs. Your body chemistry can work against you and tearing won’t be present, and if you’re too scared to fight you don’t have bruising on your thighs etc. I hate how they disregard the fact that tearing and bruising isn’t always present with an assault!!!

When you enjoy Stephanie and Derrick so much, you watch the podcast you already listened to..

...and the Harlowe empire began to grow!

derrick levasseur and stephanie harlowe?? this is actually the best pairing that i never know i needed

6 minutes in, this poor girl had a rough life 😭😭😭😭

Stephanie, PLEASE don’t stop your quote “That’s just my opinion. Don’t come for me!” Not sure why I aways look forward to that!☺️

Unfortunately, in the 1990's, minors found to be in the sex work industry were often charged as adults and held accountable when they were often the victims of actual adults who orchestrated or participated in their sexual activities. See the case of Cyntoia Brown, a 16 year old girl from Tennessee who was convicted of murdering her adult male client who was a prominent real estate agent in the area. Her sentence was converted twenty years later and she now works as an advocate for sex trafficking victims. Her case changed the policy of treating minors involved in sex work as adults instead of sexual abuse victims, at least in the state of Tennessee. It's important to understand how trauma, mental health issues, and manipulation by adults can influence or coerce  young people who may become involved in drugs or sex work.

It’s really interesting to hear Derrick explain the mannequin description.  I’ve read/heard that so many times in true crime.  I always wonder ‘how many mannequins are lying around the woods or the side of the road’ that led this witness to think that... now, I get it.

I'm so happy that the podcast is on YouTube now. 🤗

Fun fact I learned in my CJ class-- An absent father is one of the top predictors of both juvenile delinquency and juvenile drug use. And according to research, peers are the second most powerful influence on youth, and with a busy single mom, Krystal fits a textbook case of who would become a juvenile offender, unfortunetly

yess i agree with derrick ‼️💯 once you’re into drugs, prostitution, and gang activity it’s HARD AF to get away from it. i’ve experienced the drugs & just being absolutely reckless for 15+ years but here today i stand here tall & PROUD to say i was very fortunate to turn my life around with almost 8 years clean ( 12.06.13 )
& stephanie i also have a VERY HARD TIME calling children prostitutes, they are very much victims of sex trafficking.
iam so happy you and derrick decided to do a youtube channel bc iam MORE of a visible kinda chick, and that’s the main reason i can’t get into podcasts unless there’s a video. i’ve been watching EVERY episode since coming across your podcast channel. THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!! you both do a VERY GREAT JOB at giving these cases justice with all the deep dives. much love ❤️

The mom blames the school for her daughter’s problems?! Riiiight...

I love that you mention Joe Kenda. I have watched every one of his shows and I believe he still takes each one personally, even though he's seen hundreds.
