Imo some crazy runner is gonna come along and do it without mods and his name is Phorhigh

I will personally break into the house of every spyro speedrunner in existence and check that their controllers arent modified, EZ

Great video laura! Your editing has really stepped up, and great topic to cover. It's crazy how much the TAS can save with supercharge sharpturning

Id be really interested to see if anyone could manage to make a controller that physically limited the analog sticks in a way that allowed somewhat consistent sharpturns

@zaperzero 3 years ago

Ahhh yes the shoulder keys mashing on the controllers at the start of a video. The youtuber classic.

When you've become an inspiration for video making at only 2.6k subs, you know you've become BASED.

It sounds like mastering supercharge sharpturning is just what I need to achieve my goals (still not being wr competitive in either main category)

The biggest issue with allowing controller mods is that it creates a barrier of entry, same issue it introduced in Melee until things like 20XX came out

If using a keyboard for this ever becomes allowed, it should be in a special "keyboards allowed" category.

1:52 the Harambe reference 😂

I personally don't think it could be viable for real-time runs.
Guiding the control stick to a semi-precise angle to hit a shield drop in Melee is one thing, but holding the analog stick to a specific value is way way harder than most people think. A controller mod would have to basically just let the stick stop at a specific angle when you turn it, at which point it's not exactly just "guiding" you.

This video certainly took a turn.

I think it’s fine, it’s just going to need to be it’s own SR category.

Having seen this and Wirtual's video on TrackManis bringing up more or less the same point (using keyboard keys to input certain analog stick values) shows how even different games and generations of coding has rarely changed

Some basic mods are great imo. Like notches, mechanical face buttons, tactile triggers, etc. H*ck, our middle pads are a hard plastic instead of mushy rubber now! And that's allowed. ^^ As long as it doesn't play the game for you, it's good.
