Doesn't matter how horrible the circumstances of a crime are, the death penalty is an abject failure. It's also a significantly more expensive response than life in prison due to the number of appeals that come along with the punishment.
Until the state prosecutes its own state officials (cops) for the same crimes with the same hungry vitriol for cruel vengeance, it is abhorrently hypocritical to treat its citizens this way. The death penalty brings the worst out in "average" citizens.
What a nicely spoken lady. Makes a pleasant change. As for the subject of this video, many in the civilised world have been urging the USA to enter the twentieth century civilised world, let alone the twenty-first century civilised world. Nothing marks un uncivilised country as emphatically as one that still sanctions the death "penalty", notwithstanding all the sound moral, juridical and political arguments against it..
Every country that has had the death "penalty" along with a professedly impartial judiciary has in pracice acquired a historical record of some judges being "hanging judges", judges known to play fast and loose with their sentencing authority. In SA, for instance. certain judges in the Afrikaner apartheid judiciary '48-'89 were notorious for biased sentencing for serious crime where capital or incarceration were discretionary, accruing a `proud' record of handing down capital sentences to convicts from certain racial groups.
There are known cases of prison guards not administering the pain relief drug in lethal injections so the prisoner is paralysed but also in utter agony. The whole system is depraved
I profoundly agree I mean this is a cruel as she is the poor girl and insane sadist. I did six months in prison and I remember hearing about what she had done. I mean she is a serial killer, but that doesn’t mean that you can do that to a person because she still exists.
People wasting time pandering to criminals and fools is a death sentence to everyone that wants to move forward without endless distraction , fuel runs out in 45 years and civilisation has a narrow window to complete its progressive stages before cosmic violence unleashes its execution to all .
What sickens me in this story, apart from the disgusting machinery of the death penalty, is the endless number of people hungry for her death, and the fact that hardly anyone, including those opposed to the death penalty, seems to believe a human being can change over thirty years. I guess essentialising people like that is a facet of the tribalism this whole thing relies on.
