Go inside a complete 40-minute guard workout with Boston College’s Ernest Shelton.

This session combines ball handling, weak-hand development, shooting footwork, game-action threes, live reads, and conditioning.

The workout includes:

Movement-based ball-handling warm-up
Left-hand control and wrist manipulation
Pocket pulls, cuffs, and ball protection
Skipping patterns and misdirection moves
Cross-through-behind combinations
90-degree and 180-degree shooting pickups
Ball-and-foot timing for better energy transfer
Shooting-balance adjustments
Exit, lift, shake, drift, and slide threes
Live shooting against different closeouts
Shot-fake and one-dribble relocation reads
A competitive shooting conditioner

A major emphasis throughout the workout is connecting the dribble, pickup, and footwork. When the ball and feet hit together, the player can transfer energy more efficiently and arrive balanced for the shot.

We also target Ernest’s left hand so he can protect the basketball without turning away from the floor, stay square against pressure, and attack immediately when an opening appears.
