Not always Megyn, Pierce Brosnan has been married to his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, for many years, and while her body has changed over time, he has always spoken about her with deep love and admiration. To him, she is still beautiful, and their bond clearly goes far beyond appearance.

This video is so ironic!  Two wealthy, white blondes dogging another wealthy, white blonde!  Message received ladies!  If you are wealthy,  white and blonde you have no right to your pain and devastation.  This standard, of course, will apply to the two of you.  If you share lifes hardships, others with your same mind set will pick at your story and assume your motives as well.  Is Belle boring?  Perhaps, but that shouldn't be a measurement of whether her story is worthy of being told.  The take away should be that we shouldn't check out with blind trust on our marriages and hand all our financials over to the husband.  Believe it or not, some women need to hear this.  Megyn you are so talented at what you do.  This video is beneath the integrity of your talent.

If your marriage is based on your looks and good health……then it’s only a matter of time you will replaced by someone…..not what a REAL marriage and vows should mean.

The author says in the book that she had always wanted to be a writer but lost her courage young and didn't find it again until her husband left. So, my main takeaway from this book was that something that seems terrible can sometimes turn into a huge opportunity. Being left enabled her to realize a long-buried dream. She was gentle with herself, felt and expressed her feelings and ultimately ended up in a better place. Maureen, Megyn and all the haters are missing this.

She's not disempowered Megs, she wrote a book.

I really enjoyed this book. Yes, she’s rich, but it’s still devastating to go through a divorce. There’s plenty to criticize, sure, but it’s still a terrible thing to go through.

Women beating up on other women is so dreadful. Are we to believe that because she is rich, it is ok that she was treated this way? That her children who were utterly abandoned by a selfish, self serving father will not bear the scars of this throughout their lives? Where, ladies, is your compassion for a fellow human being if not a fellow woman whose heart was broken?

Maureen and Adam Carolla on consecutive days! Did I accidentally become the booker on this show somehow?

I received a call like this. After talking with the stressed husband for several minutes we found out he dialed the wrong number. WOW! I found myself consoling him. He was so embarrassed.

Haven't read the book. But why does it matter so much that she shouldn't receive empathy due to being wealthy? Why not discuss more how so many are being asked for a divorce they "didn't see coming?" Is it cultural, mental health,  etc?

One reason readers connected so strongly with the book is that Burden frames the story not as "my husband cheated" but as "the person I built my life with turned out to be someone I didn't know." That theme resonates even with readers who don't share her wealth or social status.

In essence, Kelly and Callahan are not simply reviewing the book; they are scrutinizing its factual claims and discussing whether Burden's version of events fairly represents her marriage and her role in its breakdown.

Belle wouldn’t have survived my life. I listened to one interview she did and laughed, not at her pain, as I am sure she was broken, but seriously, pain is relative for sure. This woman wrote a book because she is privileged, massively privileged. The whole story is actually boring. My life, including millions of people, have far more compelling, painful and interesting stories that deserve to be heard.

To be fair, Belle took both properties and her husband agreed because she used her pre-marriage inheritance money to purchase them

There is no way the NY Times would have published this article of a failed marriage, without strings being pulled-in my opinion. I thought at the time the article was more National Enquirer. The NYT is a big disappointment. Just another propaganda machine for a select few. Journalism is dead.

She’s so unaware that despite the heartbreak, she has it better than millions of other women who leave with nothing but their clothes on their back to escape situations. So what her ex was a jerk, at least she was safe. People really don’t realize how good they have it. As a victim of DV, I had a hard time with her book, I didn’t finish it because I became so increasingly disgusted by her lack of common sense and life experience.

When Oprah endorsed “Strangers” and Belle Burden, it was enough to make me not want to read it.

I had the same call 30 years ago.

What is the controversy?
The controversy is less about whether the affair or divorce happened and more about how Burden presents her financial circumstances.
Burden portrays herself as being financially vulnerable after the divorce, arguing that she had ceded financial control to her husband and was disadvantaged by decisions made during the marriage.
However, later reporting raised questions about whether the memoir omitted important facts about her wealth. Critics pointed out that Burden comes from an extremely affluent family and reportedly had access to substantial trust assets and prior income. Some argued that readers were given an incomplete picture of her financial position.
