Now I'm feelin so fly like a C6 !

This guys a GREAT teacher

A minor 7 to D7 using the diminished scale is the sound ive been looking for I just couldn't find it until you pointed it out thank you

Very helpful and extremely cool and well taught.  I just purchased a Barry Harris book and it was a bit confusing (books can sometimes be that way).  This video super clarifies the basics and will allow me to move forward with the book.  Love the concepts of greater chordal motion potentials that this technique offers.

This was an excellent lesson and explained in a way that is easily understood!

You play exactly the same type of chords with their inversions as I play, I feel so good because I deduced them personally by studying scales and so on, and I necer see people taking the time to think about the inversions of the same chord and I think it is fundamental to feel really free while playing guitar!

Brilliante expose. Tres interesant!

Excellent lesson, opens doors! Love that progression. If Roni didn't explain it, and I just heard it, the changes sound almost beyond figuring out--but these very cool changes are totally accessible.

Great job brother! Sounds so hip on the guitar too. I practice them on the piano starting on c then c# e d etc. Clear and concise explanation. Well done!👍👍👍

This is a 9 note scale. Key of C: C-D-E-F-G-Ab-A-B-C; Depending how you count the notes, 8 without the last C. There are TWO chords being used in this scale. One is the Am7, or C6th chord. the other is the diminished chord. I don't remember the piano player, older blind brother, that was showing this but he was from Eastern Europe. Its on youtube. He explained this VERY OLD scale and the uses of it on the piano. Many composers of early movies and early TV series also used this scale. Explaining the extra note changed my thinking exponentially on solos and progressions.

Really great to see this applied to guitar.. very cool lesson...

WOW! Greatest approach to diminshed world I've seen this far! THANK YOU ! :)

Wow! This video really helps me understand what I am playing looking to learn more. Thanks great channel.

This really spices up a traditional 2-5-1

Ok.  I saw the Barry Harris thing, got the wrong end of the stick, being a guitarist, and harmonised what I thought of at the time as the major and minor bebop scales using 4-note voicings, which gives you some pretty interesting structures and runs.  And all the time it was "just" swapping between tonic and dominant subs.  Four-note chords give you some interesting stuff: if you use it for connecting runs between I and IV, it can be kind of cool, but I know I'm just scratching the surface.

As for tracing it back to Django, I wouldn't be surprised. Somewhere on YT I'm sure there's a lesson about how Wes did the same thing, but it wasn't given a name.

Thanks for explaining how the 6th dim. scale works on the guitar to create passing chords. Great concept!

Cool, simplified way to look at our standard bebop scale vertically rather than horizontally.

thanks for this great lesson!

Excellent! He is so clear to understand.

Great lesson, thanks!
