You nailed the MISTAKE!!!!!

Practice Lines!!!!

"This is simply not the way it works"....up to now 38184 people have seen this videos...it should be much more! You are THE BEST!

"To PLAY great jazz lines, you have to PRACTICE great jazz lines!"
Absolutely spot on! Thanks for sharing.

Scales and arpeggios played on score are very useful to :
- learn music theory
- see the notes on the fretboard
- practise
That's how i learned.
Thank you for the way you did me focusing on this point.
Teaching skills here, great !
Thank you again.

Thank you, Morten. You are an outstanding musicians and your advice is always of a great help.

I am very glad to hear the advice you gave at the end of this video. I have made that mistake for years, and now am working on "creating" some "improvs" I can slip in here and there. It is really a matter of memory, and since I am old and mine is slipping, it must therefore become muscle memory. I do have to say your melodic ideas are superb! Now I just need another lifetime .

I discovered your lessons today, and it will undoubtedly be the best thing that happens to me today.

very true , good advice at the end... and if you do practice scales, play them like a melody cause they are melody.... practice your ears , not just your fingers, practice stuff that excites you musically and make it your own....

Morten - Thanks!  I'm playing this over and over and over to nail your fingering and the scale.  A lot of work!

Great video as usual  -- very solid approach :-)

You opened another musical door for me. Beautiful lesson.

This is probably one of the most important lesson any jazz player should know.

that is one of the best didactic videos I've ever seen

Morten is the man. The "common mistake" he reveals at the end of the lesson is spot on. I made that mistake for years. But now I don't and I am growing fast. There are many jackasses giving instructional videos on Youtube who don't have any business teaching anyone anything. But Morten is not one of them. He's the man. Listen to the man.

My teacher said the same thing it's only recently I. Really unsderstood what he meant your advice is spot on. Thank you.

Great lesson, and advice, thanks much!

u bloody right Morten !🎺🎺🎺

Always great teaching here!

You have the clearest and most useful tips I have ever seen anywhere, Mr. Faerstrand. Quite impressive. One time I came across a video that was maybe 75 minutes long, where you just kept soloing along using different ideas and motifs and tying it all together. It was amazing, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Is it still up? It was inspiring to watch just for the solo ideas to be mined from it.Thanks so much

The most sensible thing  i have ever heard. Music school graduates end up unable to play anything that sounds good.
And never develope a good feel for rhythm and melodic ideas. Thats why there are so few great players like you out there.
Thanks very much for a logical approach that music schools always get wrong
