1. Walking over a bar. Your own and definitely others
2. One that doesn’t need to be said but has to: MAKE SURE YOU DONT USE A MACHINE (C2, Ski, Row) SOMEONE ELSE IS USING. Take 5 min to make sure.
3. Just because you can do a muscle up, doesn’t mean you should coach them.
4. Country music (Don’t complain about it if it’s on)
5. Music should be loud. Just below too loud. Always. Music should only be turned down during the intro. After, keep it loud. The up and down between queues is jarring.
6. If someone beats you, don’t tell them why AND THEN when you beat them talk to them about it. Just move on.
100% on no-repping the wrong people. I have athletes with 2 replaced knees and their T-spines fused. We talk every WOD about 1 (and only 1) goal for them and keep them at that standard. Every day is a small improvement. Then test / retest 6 months later, and show them their improvements. For a lot of them, the biggest gain is range of motion / balance / agility.
The big etiquette faux pas that grinds my gears is when someone selfishly adjusts the fan's direction, especially on super hot days, to point it directly at themselves (and away from others). Grrrrr....
Seriously cant stop laughing about "Thunderstruck" because the number of times I have heard that in a CrossFit gym versus real life could be studied... 😂
One guy got hostile because I wanted to do a lying leg curl by myself, he wanted to jump in. After he looped through 5 MACHINES! I said SO nicely "Can you wait?" He got mad and I saw him go to all the people in the gym for 2 hours to LOUDLY DISCUSS MY ACTIONS. BRO LEAVE ME ALONE LOL
#9, When I was the 5-6am coach at my old gym, My performance left me exhausted mentally. I really felt like I owed it to the paying members. Those became the biggest classes of the day over time.
People who "rx plus" a workout when they know they won't be top on the leaderboard that day. Changing ab mat situps to GHD, or pullups to C2B to have a plausible excuse for why they took longer to finish the wod. Usually to hide from a movement that's a weakness for them
Bad programming and people congregating in the corner after their class is already finished talking louder than the couch for the next class. I can't wait to have a home gym.
