• Why you don't need a licence to use one

PMR446 is the licence-free walkie talkie standard used across the UK — but where did it come from, how does it actually work, and how is it different from CB radio?
In this video I break down the full history of PMR446 — from how it was introduced back in 1999 to why it's still the go-to choice for families, hikers, and hobbyists today. Whether you've got a basic pmr446 walkie talkie or you're thinking about your first walkie talkie , I'll explain exactly what PMR446 is, the 16 UHF channels and frequencies it runs on, the power limits, and why you don't need a licence to use it.
If you've ever wondered "is a pmr446 walkie talkie better than CB?" — this is the video that discusses just that, beginner to beginner, with zero jargon and zero fluff.
