You need to buy an eSIM card quickly so you don't run out of maps, Google Translate, or Uber. It's very important and necessary for your trip, especially since you won't be able to interact due to the language barrier. Your trip doesn't have to be a lonely one.

Hi! I just found your channel. I’m a 74 year old American who did many years of travel like yours. Several of the countries I passed through did not have English speakers. In much of Brasil you will be hard pressed for English speakers unless serendipity blesses you. My rule of thumb—learn how to pronounce and repeat the Portuguese alphabet. Learn how to pronounce and remember fifty key words you will need to use often, including “I don’t understand Portuguese.” Get a language app and a translation app.

Brasilians are among the most friendly, helpful, and good natured people in the world. Ask for help and don’t be shy to use an app to communicate. The further south you go, the States have more of a European culture.. Big cities and popular tourist spots require using your street smarts. Don’t put yourself into compromised situations. Don’t miss the rest of Brasil. My favorite is the Amazon. Bom viagem!
