Gunn not rebooting Teen Titans, a wildly popular IP due to people growing up watching the excellent animated series, lets me know he's the wrong guy for the job.

I remember Gorilla Grodd from the Legion of Doom on the Superfriends way back when, did not know he was a Flash villain.

Modern studio thinking : Lets get a relatively unknown/unpopular character, make them the absolute antithesis of what the character really is, throw in a bunch of more popular characters but make them third rank flunkies, listen to 99% of the people say "This is gonna suck, what are you guys doing?", and release it anyways, then say "The audience/fans are close minded, we gave them exactly what the wanted". We want people that wrote scripts and stories from 40 years ago, we want 80's directors and studios and modern effects (to a point), we want something that's actually worth watching

James, what if we started with the flagship characters of DC and gradually develop this cinematic universe to the point where we can have this show?
James Gunn: Nah, I wanna do this show about one of the Flash’s lesser known villains and Superman’s unofficial sidekick now.

It seems like Gunn should have been a man that DC gives a quirky side project, not the guy who delegates which projects get made.

First time I saw that picture of that gorilla suit, I couldn't help but be reminded of the movie Zookeeper. You know, the one with Kevin James.
