Your section about Milo Wolf was a perfect example of "evidence based" vs experience. My biggest gripe with Milo is how easily he dismisses anecdotal evidence, even when it comes from experienced lifters/coaches. Like, you're going to trust science because it's based on dozens of lifters trained for months at a time, but you're not going to trust the advice of a coach... who has trained dozens of lifters, usually for months at a time... wait, why was science based better again?
Glad I’m not the only one who can’t stand dr mike lol. He is responsible for so many people making zero gains with his using light weight gimmicks and his over complication of every topic. his audience is probably mostly beginners who don’t need to get more out of less weight and think like a super advanced lifter.
My left shoulder was f'ed from all these Jeff Nippard style super arch, retracted shoulder bench press. I am glad youtube recommended me your video, I learned a lot from you and john meadows about pressing. You people taught me how to actually press with my chest and keep the tension on it rather trying to acheive some superficial depth and completely disregard the cues my body was giving. Thank you.
New viewer (from basementbodybuilding comment section), big JP fan, cool of him to take your advice!
I learned more about the stretch from you today, ive always been letting my shoulders get pulled forward on rows as i thought the biggest stretch was most optimal. Ill try less range n see how it feels
Eugene Teo isn’t really science based. He’s short so he’s probably pressing a really big percentage of his body weight and could use the help staying stable in a way most people don’t need to.
Ur vids have honestly been so helpful regarding posture when lifting, been lifting for like 6 years and at a certain point stopped developing and was relying on orientation strategies, your tip of ribs down, use it all the time, even when doing things like sprints and has helped improve my form
Hey Jonathan, I like your unique perspective! I wud love it if you cud train with or podcast with some of these guys like dr Mike or Milo and explain to them how orienting doesn’t stretch the target muscle. Think how great it wud be for the fitness industry if u got them on board.
The stretch is the most overhyped thing in the fitness industry. Yeah it probably does stimulate more hypertrophy but nothing beats progressive tension overload aka adding weight to the bar
my thing with studies on physical activity is always like, are these people monitored 24/7, how do we know they all followed the exact same diet, how do we know if their sleep pattern was all optimal, how do we know if their form during the exercise was actually good, how do we know they were using the exact same tempo, were they using the same weight proportional to their bodyweight. how can we even compare multiple athletes in a study when literally every human is unique and therefore how can we make reliable conclusions by comparing individuals with each other that are all uniquely different.
there is just so many factors to why i take all these science based lifters with a grain of salt.
