If this Rocco & Friends format is how we'll get Rodney, Natas, Gonz, Klein, Kareem, (edit: RIP Fausto)....that works for me!! :)

The person who changed skateboarding forever, Mr. Steve Rocco.

@michaelpolnasek485 5 months ago

This was excellent. We definitely need a full Rocco solo episode.

This is the stuff that makes us old heads get so hyped we have to explain to our kids what was like back in the day, and to get them to understand how to live like it’s the best day you are ever going to have.

@ericburgess445 5 months ago

I hope all the kids today know how special this episode is.

Steve is so awesome to hear now. He's always shining his light on others. It is also difficult to emphasize how seismic his creating World Industries was. He does well to detail the risks he took, but it is truly hard to fathom. I was working under Fausto at the time, Steve speaks the truth. I still remember Steve and Mark showing up in SF in his blue gen 1 Toyota MR2. Kudos Steve Rocco.

Skateboarding is a special place to exist in, and hearing stories like these makes it that much more meaningful. thanks for all the memories nine club!

After rolling my ankle off the nonexistent nose of multiple 80’s boards, seeing Mike’s Animal Farm board was a revelation. Didn’t even need to ride it to get it. It just made so much sense. Skateboarding’s benefited so much from that evolution.

I never thought I'd see Steve Rocco interviewed on any Skate podcast.

This dude has a fountain of skate knowledge. It seems Rocco always had this bad reputation, but from pod he seems like a super cool guy. Damn.

@Nominay 2 months ago

There needs to be a Mike V. compilation of him just doing impressions of other people. 😄 My fave is him doing Bam back 25 years ago.

I remember when we first saw Mike Vallely on Public Domain. It completely blew us away. Instantly raw street skating was a legitimate thing. We were all metalheads and we identified so much more with Vallely than the untouchables and cleans like Tony Hawk, Mike McGill. His skating was brutal and unforgiving. He did tricks on that video we didn't even know existed. That changed our view on street skating instantly.
