The Ride Experience
Terrain & Difficulty: The trail is rated as easy and is almost entirely flat, with only a few gentle inclines. The total length is approximately 17–20km one-way (from Blackburn to the Main Yarra Trail in Burnley).
Surface: Most of the path is high-quality asphalt or concrete. However, since you are starting in the Blackburn/Box Hill area, be aware that the sections through Blackburn Creeklands (Kalang Park, Furness Park) and parts of Gardiners Creek Reserve near Deakin University often feature well-compacted gravel. These are easily manageable on a push bike but may require a slightly slower pace in wet conditions.
Scenery: It is a very lush, "bushy" ride. You’ll pass through wetlands, local history parks, and various sporting reserves. It’s a great route for your YouTube channel, as the transition from the quiet, woody Blackburn sections to the more urban corridor near the Monash Freeway provides a nice visual variety.
