Is 1/8oz Too Light for Snapper?

In this session I headed offshore off Cronulla chasing snapper on soft plastics, but this time I tried something a bit different — fishing a tiny 1/8oz jighead in deeper water.

The idea was simple: a lighter jighead should give the plastic a slower, more natural fall and keep it in the strike zone longer. But offshore conditions don’t always make that easy. Wind, current, drift speed and depth can quickly show you when you’ve gone too light.

This session became a good lesson in when light jigheads work, when they don’t, and how important it is to still maintain contact with your lure when fishing plastics for snapper.

If you fish soft plastics offshore, this is one of those sessions that shows the mistakes just as much as the wins.

Thanks for watching legends — let me know in the comments what jighead weight you normally use for offshore snapper.
