We hit Chesil Beach for a fun mackerel fishing session using small jigs and light spinning gear – and it didn’t start well! After a frustrating start with no bites, the evening turned magic just before sunset... I was catching mackerel every cast!

Nice amusing shore trip my fishy friends always great to see you both, I had my first Bass 2 weeks ago 50cm around the 4 lbs mark ish. Baked it in the oven x meals outstanding.

My and my mate had a few sandeels up Aberdeenshire that were at least 10inch long. Some kids near us also had a few.

Light line fishing is the only way. Love it.👍 Love the hiss of the shingle as the waves draw back, wish I was there.

From about 1994 till 2005 on that beach from April till about sept it used to be impossible not to catch hundreds of mackerel there,still can some days but nowhere near the same it was insane back in the day could put two sets of feathers on and haul in ten at a time

Fished Chesil last week just before the gales started.
It was ridiculous.
Mackerel and sandeels were everywhere.

Great video . My Grandma lived on Portland when I was younger. I used to watch people catching mackerel and barbecuing them on the chesil beach . I would love to go back down and spend some time there but it's a long way from Yorkshire. I also remember going fishing with some local kids in the naval harbour for prawns and searching for slow worms it's a beautiful place! Tight lines !

We were fishing the Portland end on the same day. The mackerel were at distance for us and had to wait almost into dark to catch any numbers. Monster size though and absolutely stuffed with those sandeels. Fishing was tough but BBQ mackerel on the beach while watching those chesil sunsets were perfect.
