At 75 years old, Carl Palmer proves that true legends never slow down.
The Emerson, Lake & Palmer drummer delivers a 2025 drum solo packed with everything that made him iconic — showmanship, control, dynamics, and pure musical intensity.

This may be fan-captured footage, but the performance is world-class.
The Paiste cymbals sing, the Ludwig kit roars, and Carl reminds us that age means nothing when passion drives the performance.

I Saw Carl Palmer 16 times in Buenos Aires, Argentina!
6 with ELP, 5 with Carl Palmer trios, 3 with Asia original members, and 2 drums clinic.
Plus face to face chats on the most of backstages , is a Genius!!
Cheers from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🤙

Carl's influences were the great jazz drummers like Joe Morello, Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. Buddy didn't think too highly of most rock drummers but was a fan of Carl, and asked him to sit in with his band at Ronnie Scott's in 1986.

I was lucky enough to see his show a few years ago in a small local venue. unreal, absolute legend.

I like how he spent a few minutes showing the audience that he was indeed having a ton of fun!

Andrew: to answer your questions. The electric drums are played on a multi pad “Panda”. Two, the piece is Carmina Barena. Three, this is the conclusion of a two plus hour show, not in the beginning; and he still has the energy.

CP, the BEST! Still going strong. Live long and God bless, Carl.

Carl deserved more public recognition than he ever got. His name belongs up there with Bonham, Ringo, Buddy Rich and well you get it.

The scale of Carl's longevity is genuinely unbelievable.... he was doing this for years before Neil Peart joined Rush, and he's still doing this 10 years after Neil's final show. And Neil was around FOREVER.

Saw him tonight, 2026 Las Vegas. He played this solo. Amazing still.

Carl has been my favorite drummer since I saw ELP in 1971. It's nice to see this creativity again.

That is the level of pop rock musician in 70’s, just virtuoso

@RBELLOUS 10 months ago

One of the worlds most gifted musicians/drummers. He's the young drummer Buddy Rich ever complimented.

For me, a drummer's (or any musician's) worth is not in flashy solos but in what they bring to the music. Carl's playing on, say, Tarkus is what makes him great.

@rado6840 10 months ago

That is the boomest bass drum I've ever heard

Now you can see who influenced Neil Peart

Carl Palmer is one of the truly elite percussionists of all time and genres. His technical skill, creativity and endurance are stunning. Being able to play at this level and intensity at 75 years of age is amazing. I have seen him play three times---twice with ELP in 1993 and once with Asia in 2007---and each one was a treasure.
