Rotating the 3 blanks 90° is BRILLIANT!

After watching 100s of videos, this one resonantes with me.  Thanks Simon!

BEST fly fishing mentor ever!

Great to see you back instructing Simon. I’ll forward this to my teenage son and his mates. They have suspect double hauls - this will help them!

You are the best!

The most detailed tutorial out there, amazing!

Very good teaching and practical approach 👏

Fantastic Simon Thank you

I do a lot of nymphing with indicators. A single haul works pretty well. I usually have to do a roll cast, then haul on back cast just to get the flies out of the water and into position for a good forward cast. It took me a long time to add the haul to the forward cast.

This is super helpful thanks

Well, I don't think it could be made much more detailed. Thank you.  Tom

brilliant instruction!

Good teacher!

Thank you sir!

Great tutorial

Great vid Simon. One question, does it matter which way you turn the top 3 sections? Inside is more in line with your hauling hand, outside is away from your body?

Funny, but I never really understood Creep until now. Who knew? lol thanks

@21:52 Simon, what happens to the rod spine when you twist the sections? Now you have a weird situation with the spine. Does this not matter so much with modern fly rods because they don’t have a marked spine like older rods used to? Curious to know your thoughts. Thanks.

Great instruction.  Maybe tied for best ever with Mel Krieger’s vhs tape Essence of fly casting from the 1990s.  Mel refereed to the hand motion with a single word “downup”

Where do I attach the slick shooter?
