When you think "mature" means "make things darker and bleaker" rather than "more morally complex."

My friends asked me if I have watched Season 2 of Avatar.

I said; Yeah, 20 years ago.

“I’m Toph Beifong, and I invented metal bending” I too, introduce myself to my own mother when I see her

How do you fail an open book quiz?

@Elquix_ 2 months ago

Azula just being able to instantly spam her lighting like palpatine is hilarious

Having Zuko actually steal from the pregnant mother upsets me so much.

Anyone remember when our season's villain was introduced with a simple,
"Do the tides command this ship?" That told us basically EVERYTHING we need to know?

I CANNOT get over how in the first episode they had TWO people, Sokka and Aang, do the cool guy "punching the guy behind me with the back of my hand without looking" trope in different scenes WITHIN FIVE MINUTES OF EACH OTHER. I couldn't watch anymore after that it pissed me off so much

It’s so weird that people think “realism = lack of color, kindness, or joy?” People have always laughed and joked. There have always been flowers or birds we can gawk at. It’s painfully easy to see how Hollywood “animation for kids, realism good, innovation bad” messed this up.

The NATLA acronym implies that the shyamalan version would be SHATLA, and it delights me.

Removing the joy and whimsy from Aang's characterisation also completely ruins the themeing. The whole point of the airbenders was that they brought fun and levity to the world, so once they disappeared, the world became much more grim and out of balance. Part of Aang's job in restoring that balance is his goofy and fun-loving nature.

But this is the "mature" version, so no fun allowed.

27:27 this Overly Emotional version of Aang would NOT have survived the Face Stealer.

23:53 I'm sorry but no, Toph talking to Avatar Kyoshi made no godamm sense. Kyoshi literally asks Toph: "Where is Aang?" Like tf you mean? You ARE Aang. You don't know where your current incarnation is?

14:46 I hate the cringey modern language they do with the script. Obviously it's a fantasy world but no one in the ATLA world should be saying "friendo" or "second location" implying the existence of widespread kidnapping records and news distribution.

Cannot wait for Iroh to never use bending for the rest of the show, mark me.

Mischaracterization that make teenage fanfic writers slap you across the face for even suggesting this to them.

I have to admit, all the earthbending wrestlers starting to argue over how Aang should properly earth bend, is a hilarious idea that would have absolutely fit into the show.

@aids1015 2 months ago

why didnt zuko fire bend the lights on his date. the amount of massive disappointment i felt is immeasurable.

@TheElmozusFlame 3 months ago

WHAT THEY REMOVED THE METAL COFFIN?????Whyyyyyyyyy??? Its like they didn't watch the original. BUMIS SACRIFICE WAS A LESSON IN EARTHBENDING. And a mirror to toph is Literally the embodiment of the lesson. Wait and listen. Peak writing that EASILY paves the way for an awesome adaptation BUT NOOOO its Netflix. They just wanna ~~REDACTED~~ Sick monsters
