Gujarat banned alcohol 65 years ago. So why did police seize 82 lakh bottles in 2024 alone?
3 lakh arrests in two years. A bottle of liquor seized every other minute in Ahmedabad. ₹16,000 crore in annual tax revenue gone — straight to bootleggers and the officials who protect them.
The permit system sells you permission to drink for medical reasons in a state that bans drinking for moral reasons. The police arrest bootleggers with one hand and take monthly cuts from them with the other. People die from adulterated methanol because legal alcohol doesn’t exist. And the politicians — BJP and Congress both — will never lift the ban because the illegal income it generates is too valuable to lose.
Former Chief Minister Vaghela said it directly — in Gujarat, the person who drinks and the person who robs are treated as the same criminal. That’s not a health policy. That’s the state deciding it has the right to control what you do inside your own home — and backing that decision with 10 years of imprisonment.

but not agreed on advocating the alcoholism. Alcohol by no means fills any nutrition deficiency of the human body, it is not good for the health.
Even if someone comes up with some shitty correlation, cost to fulfil those supplements through alchohol is very costly idea !
This ban will never be lifted by any government as it is the biggest source of income for administration,police ,anti social elements.
Also, BJP govt saying yeh Gandhi ka gujrat hai, is like tiger saying yeh deers ka jungle hai.
Only education has power to bring the change, that is why 100% literacy is didnt achieved even after 7 decades of independence.. The real lag lies there, route cause of all problem lies there
