New zealander here. I worked in PNG (outside of moresby) when i was 19 for 2 years, had never left home country and arrived to a complete culture shock, met some of the most amazing people and some of the scariest at a young age. 39 now travelled over 100 countries and still love PNG.

Man I love this channel so much. Not because it's a travel channel, but because you actually forge authentic relationships.
Too many 'poverty tourist' youtubers shoving cameras in people's faces, going to 'uncomfortable places' but clearly doing so on a dime and with a premade agenda of showing just how "terrible" their lives are.

You're just playing like a lost kid roaming around as a spectator to their everyday lives. Not ridiculing them, not mocking them, not asking them overbearing questions.

These videos always give me a juxtaposition of feelings. On one hand I'm immensely grateful for the 1st world luxury I live in, and humbled by the relative ease of my seemingly complex problems—when you contrast the difficult lives these people actually have.
The other is how kind and hospitable people can be.. even when they have very little to share and no reason to trust a random youtuber. Even though I've never traveled like Mike, I'm grateful he shares these experiences, because it pushes me to offer more compassion and kindness to others. I actually DO have more than enough to share. Thanks for the video and the reminder, Mike and people of PNG 🙏

The only issue i have with mike is the fact that he doesn't post every day lol i know its impossible but damn the quality of travel channels has gone down and mikes one of the few doing it the raw way still.

I love his authenticity, png is such a rich country in people and culture, but barely anyone actually goes and visits, love how he’s showcasing then true beauty of the country ❤
