Living alone there is crazy. Getting called "old" at 30 by a 65 year old man is even more crazy.

The conversation with this lonely farmer in the mountains somewhere in China is more meaningful and deep than most conversations I had with people in the "modern" world.

"I just let go," and "everything became clear, and I instantly felt peace." ......pure beingness

It really hits differently, at the end when they were eating a home-cooked meal peacefully while the tv was broadcasting the US going to war against Iran...

Round 2 of mike dishing out ciggies and alcohol to anyone with a hearbeat

5:25 great fathers never force a dream on their kid, hes a good dad

He has electricity, TV and cell signal, in the middle of nowhere, thats impressive

This guy has million dollar views from his home, no HOA breathing down his neck, no boss but himself and a tv and organic food to eat. He figured out life for sure. Thanks for the great video.

A man without a fancy degree, or a yacht, or a world traveled trail, he has the most profound common sense and the simplest form of contentment and happiness. Good for him. May him live a long healthy life. Thank you for making deep connection with him. Great questions you asked with great response from Mr. Qin.

You literally went on a legendary quest to find the wise elder on top of the mountain and gain his wisdom. Cool stuff man.

"The only thing you have to fear is your own mind" is a real life lesson for many of us me included

As a Chinese, it's kind of cute to see when he was talking to  Mike, he used Mandarin instead of Sichuan Dialect, even tho Mike might only understand a few words of Chinese, at least he shows his respect for distant guest

The shot was only a few seconds long but I think the most impactful, when everyone was sharing a meal together with the news going that played video of missiles being dropped on people and buildings… the juxtaposition of intimately eating a humble meal of beans and rice just grown meters away while watching the completely devoid violence of a missile killing people that never saw their killer, aren’t even able to defend themselves from death. Humanity gained, humanity lost simultaneously in the same quiet shot. 36:04

35:56The news played on the TV is about USA attack Iran. What a Documentary scene.

im chinese myself, born and grew in china, moved to the west in my teenage age, and your videos really got me burst into tears because there were so many moments that people outside view us as weirdos or even demonize this race but we still live up to kindness and wishing to live a peaceful life

I just want to say, China is just breath takingly beautiful and the people are unbelievably kind. The villages you go through are just idyllic. Some people would believe this country is a dystopian hellscape, but you've shown that they are no different from Western countries, hiking clubs, people who have truly mastered their crafts and passions, people that choose to live in rural areas for a simple peaceful life etc. We are all the same <3 Ignore the people trying to divide us all.

I work in China's power industry. Back when I was doing poverty alleviation, there were people living in really remote places, like the person in the video. We set up a dedicated power line for them, which cost hundreds of thousands of RMB, but their monthly electricity bill was only about 10 yuan. Do you expect to make a profit from them? From the start of doing this work, we never thought about whether it would lose money. This is the difference between China and the West: China wants its people to live well, while the West focuses on whether it can make a profit.
