FUN FACT - This loss by an Innings & 360 runs is the heaviest loss experienced by any home team in 144 years of Test cricket.

RIP to a modern day great. There will never be another like Warne. Absolutely gutted.

As South African cricket supporter and a teenager, we hated this Australian team. They killed so many dreams. As an adult, you have to admire not only the raw talent, but the excellent work ethic, and passion these players have.

Pigeon was so acurate and consistent, he could bore the batsmen out on a flat deck.

Steve Waugh has gone on record to say that this was the test match when his team was at its peak.

That Aussie team was the best team that ever played cricket.

Man what a team,
Hayden
Langer
Ponting
Waugh
Waugh
Martyn
Gilchrist
Warne
Lee
Gillespie
Mcgrath

Holy crap, the legends.

So many match winners in that team. Even though I am an Indian fan, still loved this Aussie team. Late 90’s and early 2000 kids might know how good this team was.

Warne and McGrath got 1000 wickets in the games they played together. True champion bowlers who were instrumental in ushering in the golden age of Australian cricket. McGrath - consistent line and length, accuracy and extra bounce. Warne - accuracy, great spin, variety of deliveries and mind games.

That was one heck of a team.. So ferocious.

Golden days of our childhood

One of the greatest bowling partnership that have ever existed in the game of cricket i.e. of Warne & McGrath....these two could change the course of a game anytime they want...one of the main reason why Australia was considered as invincible during 1999 - 2007....

McGrath Sir, World class bowler, A Legend.

RIP Warnie we'll miss you matey. Victorian legend.

It wasn't just that they got 9/44 it was THE WAY they got them out. Like 3 of those catches from McGrath's bowling were as simple as you get. You could not drop them. Absolutely masterful bowling. That's accuracy.

This Aussie team also smashed a world 11 side... clearly the best team to ever play test cricket.

Hahahaha six slips shows you how much they respected the Donald's batting.

What a perfect cricket team of Aussie at that time under captaincy of Steve Waugh which made our childhood full of beautiful memories 😍

'SA in desperate trouble'
Gods how i love hearing that.
🇦🇺❤️🇦🇺👍🏿👍🏿

That Australian team is the greatest cricket team ever by far. They were unbeatable.. we'll never see that much quality in one team again.

This Australian team had two bowlers both featuring in the list of top ten all time wicket takers. Then add to that the most successful test captain in cricket history, Steve Waugh, with a win rate of 72%. Also playing is Ricky Ponting, who is widely considered to be the best all-round captain in cricket history as well as one of the sharpest infielders to ever play the game.

Being taken apart in a handful of overs by a team like that is no disgrace at all.
