That first touchdown Indiana made right off the bat after our touchdown in the second half is when I felt the air go right out of our balloon. It was downhill after that.
Indiana's defense stepped up, we went to a low % pocket passing game instead of running clock, we used up our time outs, defense gave up two big plays after we were up by 11. We did okay but should've won.
The choice to constantly week in and week out not run the ball when we are up and choose to throw 3 plays in a row for no yards and stop the clock on our own 15 and 20 is just bad coaching
Nebraska had a great gameplan and executed it very well. They gave up two explosive plays. That was the difference.
Husker fans should hold their heads high. Your guys are getting there. Most Indiana fans probably feel we were lucky to win this one after being dominated for three quarters.
1. Nebraska is a VERY good football team 2. After the first long completion during Indiana’s first drive, it became apparent to me that IU’s “go to” plays were going to be that. We got burned on 4 more that game. The one after we went up 17-6 was INEXCUSABLE. By that point of the game, the safeties were far too aggressive and should have been instructed after the first drive that NO-ONE should EVER get behind you…EVER IN THIS GAME again. It happened 3 more times after we were up 17-6. That doesn’t include 2 PIs in desperation due to the same error.
We played a dang good team. They did what old school Nebraska did, lean on you non stop for 4 quarters till something breaks. End of first half last 2-3 players. First break. Second break found a weakness in a very tired team. These kids played respectably the whole game. They gave their all. They just didn’t quite have the all Indiana did. Love them. Don’t praise them. They need to improve. But they did not give up. They were beaten. A whole lot different from frosts fourth quarter fumbles
