Spike Milligan helped change the sound of British comedy forever. Before Monty Python and the alternative-comedy generation, The Goon Show was already tearing apart the rules of radio with impossible characters, sound effects, wordplay and a deep suspicion of authority.

In this Cinema Peek documentary, we follow Milligan from his childhood in India and Burma through jazz, service with the Royal Artillery in North Africa and Italy, his wartime friendship with Harry Secombe, and the creation of The Goon Show with Peter Sellers and Michael Bentine.

The story continues through Q5 and its influence on Monty Python, The Bed Sitting Room, The World of Beachcomber, Curry & Chips, The Great McGonagall, Puckoon, his war memoirs, poetry, family life, awards, later years and the famous final joke that followed him to the grave.
