Uganda should sell their crude to dangote to refine, because museveni probably have a plan, but no road to reality.

Nigeria is a great country, they experiment all this matters, from failures to success.

So much pessimism and negativity towards Uganda's decision to continue their oil project. One wonders why someone would expect Uganda just to abandon her investment that has already had so many private and government commitments with nearly half of the project accomplished! Where was this Dangote East Africa before!? Allow countries and private investors to set up so many of such projects if they can. It's even better in economic terms for the consumers!

Hmmm Nigeria has four refineries government owned that refused to work for decades, while spending billions on salaries and maintenance ultimately the government still maintains 7% in the Dangote Refinery. Now, a refinery can purchase crude from any sources and blend, so the reality is there is enough space on the field. The question will be your balance sheet.

Kenya we had a visionary leader Kibaki. He knew we've never advanced as east africa with a major roadblock in the name Tanzania. TZ have waged a cold war against Kenya and UG for too long. Kibaki discoverd development route to landlocked Ethiopia and south sudan with a population more than double combined uganda and TZ. We can babysit TZ but nothing out of it. Museveni knows well they'll never advanced with TZ, but to save his already invested Tanga pipeline needs to be cautious. UG believe Kenya as viable route to ocean and with brain of Ruto he has allowed UG sole link to Indian Ocean thro Mombasa.

Fuel refined in UG will end up being more expensive than imported ones. So the refinary will close

Dangote has more than enough money to buy crude from the middle east and the US. Nigerian government supplies just 7 crude vessels out of the 13 vessels he requires per month.The rest he buys outside the continent. This should not be a worry. It's just pure envy that Kenya got the project. Dangote defeated French Cement maker LAFARGE. This battle is an easy one.

Kenya has crude source from South Sudan, and Dangote will construct his Refinary before any other one in East Africa. Dangote has everything calculated, as per finance, he floated Lagos Refinary, the IPO issued has brought in lots of money. Let us also remember that Ethiopia, South Sudan and others are with Dangote. Dangote knows how to build a Refinary, Dangote faced European, Western Nations attempt to stop him and he won. Can Uganda defeat the power of western nations? They would try sabotage etc. Dangote has many Nigerian engineers with him, who participated in building the 1st one, many Chinese and Indians. So it is not easy to build a Refinary.

Uganda's refinery will be very expensive, am sure the intention of the whole thing vould be a loot.

But i support them for trying to compete, we nolonger want monopoly in East Africa

Uganda has no chance against Dangote and I haven't seen any business run by any government in Africa that's managed better than a private sector business.

Crude oil is a global product and I can assure you that the CIF price of crude oil from the USA, the middle east and Russia will be cheaper than Uganda Crude Oil.

Secondly, Dangote will squeeze the prices that Uganda will eventually be begging him to buy crude from them or they will shut it down.

Dangote is a hardened competitor and they should go to Nigeria and find out how he survived the mafia.

Uganda having a small refinery in Uganda makes sense to them. However, creating another refinery at their own cost in Tanzania does not make sense to them. That only makes sense to Tanzania. Uganda gets to build a refinery for Tanzania. Tanzania gets all the jobs and the profits at Uganda's expense. They have already bult a pipeline to Tanga, why not let Tanzania carry their refinery burden and Uganda has a ready market for their oil in Tanga.
