I donated 98% of my closet a few years ago and donated all of it to a local women's shelter who help pregnant and abused women.

Girl, I have 4 seasons too. You pack away the out of season clothes in storage containers and have a capsule wardrobe for each season - much more doable and useful!

Hello!
One thing I realized when I went through the same journey of decluttering and creating a capsule wardrobe is that it’s a process — for me, it was a slow process of donating some clothes and learning to use the ones that were left. At the same time, I wasn’t buying any new clothes. After a while, you feel like you have too many clothes again, so I donated some more…

Now I have a small wardrobe where I can mix and match almost every item!
Another thing that was really hard for me was understanding that I don’t need to buy everything that looks good on me — only the pieces that actually go well with my other clothes.
Good luck on your journey!

Peep the cute dog behind the pillows ❤❤❤

Can you pay attention to your clothing spending this year and update us in 2027? This was a great move but it's so easy to find yourself in the same position in a few years. I'd love to see what steps you take to prevent this from happening again.

I think the ski sweater is something you can wear all winter long. It is not just a Christmas sweater, it is adorable. I love the baskets you used also.

Hang onto them because the quality of those clothes is 100X better than what is made today...I believe in tailoring w/ quality fabric (seams/darts/decent collar).

I liked how you framed letting go of clothes that don’t fit right now—it felt very mental-health-positive.

I did this two years ago when I had to sell my home in my divorce and it was freeing for me!!

I just dropped off a dozen bags to Planet Earth donation bins today as a result of this video.  What a good feeling!  I definately had a hard time parting with a pink suede suit which was a special gift from my husband during the first years of marriage though.😏

Clothing is basically worthless. Don't believe me? Check out the clearance rack with items from last season now marked down to 20% or less of their original retail, including the previously "hottest" designer trend and "investment" pieces. Keep a lid on the spending on depreciating assets, and invest in appreciating ones instead. Good for you, Ashley!

I have a reasonable sized wardrobe and chest of drawers, and we have 4 seasons, and I never store my clothes, they are just all sectioned out in my wardrobe and I can just mix and make outfits as I go. Every couple of years, I get them all out, try everything on, make all working outfits, get rid of what I know I'm not wearing and mark what's on probation, if it doesn't get warn in that season, it is donated. Since watching these sorts of shows and running my wardrobe with this sort of system, I had lots of clothes, but nothing to wear, now, I wear everything in there and enjoy them all. If they don't make me feel good, I don't hang onto them anymore.

I’m going through my closet right now. New Year! Taking away the old and bringing in the new. Have A Blessed Day ❤

I chose to watch because I’m desiring at least one less standing clothes rack to bring in a comfy reading chair, and we have similar looks, hair and clothes. My only happiness as a poor child was new clothes, and that was rare. It still is.
What hit me was when you said “Don’t buy anything you can’t wear every day.”
I’ve gone through the “Would you buy this now?” And still it’s not enough. I’ll turn that to don’t display anything you wouldn’t use every day, as well. From a house to an apartment, …it’s not allowing for alternative storage. And I am a newbie at focusing on naturally made products so switching the synthetics out is another task.
Your things on the floor indicated that you didn’t have an easy system to deal with them. Hope you have found ease with that too.
You have a very likable and relatable clothing style. 😊
Thanks for being real, helpful, inspiring, courageous, and easy to hang out with.

Your closet now looks like a magazine! Great job! I've been doing the same. We started almost 2 weeks ago decluttering and purging from top to bottom in our house. We've done every drawer, cabinet and closet, including the garage. We are almost done in the basement and it feels so good! My obsession is with decor, I love buying new pieces and changing things. I kept my faves and the rest went to family and friends first, then donated. How many baskets, vessels, stems and stuff does one really need? Even though I keep it all neat in bins and closets it was just too much. I gave half of my Christmas decor to a sweet couple in the neighborhood who just got married in November so they didn't have Christmas decor. They were thrilled! I mean I had so many beautiful garlands, candles, ornaments.. that I don't need!! It felt so good. Your style is so me in clothing as well as decor. Great job. Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family. Wishing you abundant blessings and peace in 2026!❤

Looks beautiful Ashley!🤍 Thanks for the inspiration!

I hang on to every word you say because you are real and have the best tips 👍🏻 thank you 😁

68 new pieces a year?! I don't even know if I own that many pieces of clothing!

I went from wearing business casual to working from home. I need to go through my closet so bad because over half I haven't worn in YEARS. I also learned to sew and have been making my own clothes for over a year now.

I love the little dog face over your shoulder. 😂
