The "Is he gaaaaay... or European?" line had me rolling the first time I heard it. It's such an out of nowhere defense and yet it makes so much sense. And holy crap the orchestra accentuates everything perfectly, especially the "You lying B*STARD!" part! XD
I like that the line "Depending on the time of day, the French go either way", insinuates that depending on the time of day the French are no longer European
Why is this so catchy? It’s the time and everything, lol, also I love how they’re building up ideas, then when he kisses that lady’s hand, they’re all like “DAMN IT!”
The move of saying "And your boyfriend's name is?" is so good because most straight people would not make the mistake of saying a name, but would get really insecure and angry.
Fun Fact: In the german version of this song, they had to change it a bit because Germany also is european. So, they changed it from 'Gay or European' to 'Schwul oder Franzose' which means 'Gay or french'.
it's so cool that they let kids sing this song. most kids productions i've been in were homophobic and wouldn't even let a girl play a male lead if it meant that she'd have to act all lovey dovey with the other female lead (like in aladdin or cinderella)
"see what?"
"maybe you should do it again..."
