The strange realization that I, a bus driver may have more certification requirements then this guy is likely to be required to have

This is why we will never have flying cars.

I noticed its hard for Kelsey to say an imaginary radio call wrong because he is trained to do it right.

I feel like there has to be something in between "must have no medical problems of any kind and spend tens of thousands of dollars on flying lessons" and "only need to know how to drive a car."

I was a commercial pilot for 22 years.  communications are hard.  They just are.  I actually always, even after 10,000 hours would worry a little and have nightmares about misunderstanding.  It gets very normal inflight.   But visiting an unfamiliar airport never got 100% comfortable on the radio. Usually I was 110% in the air.  But once I touched down I’d get the stress.

My father had a switch on his instrument panel to replay the last 20 second of radio audio, so you don't have to ask again. I thought that should be standard equipment for everyone.

Some of us should stick to flying in simulators. I'm one, and so is this guy. He might be the only one in the plane, but people also exist on the ground.

The day I had my minor heart attack, I had to say goodbye to my dream of ever piloting an aircraft. But as my one friend said to cheer me up. "Hey, now instead of spending a ton of money on an airplane. You could put it towards an amazing simulator & computer.". I wish this pilot had shown more responsibility, and chosen to not fly with his known health conditions.

I did some reading on the N262WS crash, and one thing a couple sources indicated is that the pilot exceeded the maximum structural cruise speed (Vno) for a significant portion of the time before the radio call alerting him about the traffic at 1,500 feet, crossing that threshold multiple times. To me, that meant he was at least careless about the speed, at worst, he was deliberately flying too fast.

This guy is the one who can't figure out the drive through at McDonald's let alone fly a plane.

When I received my private pilot certificate in 1991, I thought 40 hours was a bit light and that I knew just enough to be dangerous. Even though my instructor offered high praise and the examiner said I aced it, I thought much care and additional training was needed. Many hours later with an instrument rating and some aerobatics training (a friend recommended it…he thought all pilots should get some to be safe), experience flying IMC, high performance aircraft, numerous landings with near maximum crosswinds for the airframe, and some multi-engine hours, I still saw it as an inherently dangerous activity even in rural areas far away from mountains and busy airspace.

I’m 64 now with cataracts and a few other minor health issues. I would never be so self-absorbed and arrogant to think it’s a good idea for me to fly putting myself and others in danger. I now indulge my interest in aviation by watching Kelsey.

There is no such thing as the right to endanger other people's lives. This individual not only had a number of medical conditions that should have grounded him, but was also on medication incompatible with flying an airplane. Some people need to grow up,  grow a pair and act responsibly when the universe serves them lemons.

Im a sport pilot. I fly 150 hours a year and this is not normal, at all. Our checkride is essentially the same and the Knowledge Test is basically the same without the night portion.

"I know I'm not that smart..." but I fly a 747. Kelsey, quit scaring me! 😂😜

I love the "do you bro" with hay house example

I love how Kelsey remains so humble, a button pusher on an aircraft - but with so many buttons to push, you gotta know WHICH ones are the right buttons to push at the relevant times, that's why I have so much respect & adoration for pilots ✈

I'm not a citizen of the USA, but as a citizen of the UK I agree wholeheartedly with Kelsey's feelings on his safety & those who he flies with; therefore, anyone who is putting another plane, its pilots & passengers in danger needs to stay firmly on the ground.

"When the controller advised the pilot of nearby traffic, the pilot responded that he was looking. The airplane's pitch then increased slightly nose-up, followed by a significant pitch change to 45° nose-down and a right roll of 37°. The pilot transmitted "mayday, mayday." The roll continued through inverted and the airspeed eventually increased to 169 knots, which was 33 knots in excess of the airplane's never-exceed (redline) speed. During the final 10 seconds of recorded data, the engine speed varied between 4,550 and 5,950 rpm (redline rpm was 5,800)."

The tower should tell the guy to hold on a taxiway and then send the airport cops out to do a field so-fly-ity test.

Kelsey hearing you talk about the difficulty you had staying at the correct altitude makes me feel better about my one instance l had of flying.   I worked in the courts and had an opportunity to travel with a solicitor in his private plane.   Once airborn he said  "l'm going to have a sleep, just keep it level at 5,000 l think he said and 170⁰.   I could not for the life of me  keep the plane level.  I have nothing but respect for professional pilots.
Side note - l am one of the few people to drive a police car, ambulance and fire engine...

I'm 70 years old and voluntarily gave up flying many years ago when I realized I was not as sharp as I used to be.  When I was a student pilot  I used to comment that flying was the only thing in life that got me totally away from my profession because it required all my attention to do it right.  I have also chosen to no longer drive at night, and am well aware the each time I visit my daughter, I am being evaluated for any signs that she needs to intervene in anything.  There just comes a time when we are no longer sharp enough to do some things; the wiser in that group know when to stop,
