Musk grew up in Apartheid S. Africa. His grandfather was a member of the Canadian Neo N@zis. His schooling and social circles were rooted in white supremacy.  His family was extremely wealthy by exploiting non existent labor laws to work natives to death for huge profits. He had a private driver, a private airplane and tens of millions in investments before he was 20.  Musk was not "radicalized". He has always been what we see now. What he showed everyone before was nothing more than a sham persona meant to make him 'cooler'. Now he has all the power and he doesn't need to pretend.

Hi Matt, as a Black woman who has watched your channel and followed you on social media for quite some time now, I have to say that while I usually appreciate your videos, it was genuinely disappointing to hear very little here about Grimes' long history of perpetuating anti-Blackness & racism.

Frankly, I wish you would have brought on a Black person to join this conversation or at least taken a much more serious look into Grimes' history of perpetuating racism & complicity to fueling white-supremacy. Even when Katt said that Grimes was a, "victim who didn't want to be with a bigot," there were already multiple examples where both Elon & Grimes had contributed to said racism & were obviously fine with doing so. I also felt like the conversations about women being with bigoted men really missed the mark. Many times a woman/man/person is with a bigoted/racist person, there's examples where both parties held racist values (especially white peoole given that we live in an inherently racist society) prior, & it felt like you guys were downplaying that role of responsibility, which only seeks to further harm Black people & other POC, especially Black women as it contributes to further misogynoir....

I'm sure some of your subscribers who read my comment will dismiss this or even attempt to argue with me and tell me I'm wrong, but there's a very detailed & documented past of Grimes' racism that one can find in a quick Google search in about 60 seconds. The privilege it requires to ignore how harmful Grimes' racism is, is part of the reason she continues to get away her white-supremacy in the first place. It would be great if you could have on more Black & brown people to discuss these topics, because it does seem like there's a very large "elephant in the room" as it pertains to racism/anti-Blackness, that just isnt discussed by you or the peoole you bring on. Please know this isn't me "calling you out," but is more of a "call-in" because I do think you care and will take my comment to heart. If I thought you didn't care, I wouldn't be subscribed in the first place and wouldn't even try having this conversation with you. Thanks so much for reading, please be well & take care.

This is my Grimes take. Grimes is a poster girl for the pipeline of hipster art trust fund turned technifascist. She is just like SXSW. SX started as an indy music fest and has become this.... beast of post modernity. I believe she is truly a creative and unique musician, however, she is an example of a niche art eating itself. She exemplifies naval gazing -neurodivergence-, where basically you obsessively special interest dig as far as you can into any and all subjects.... to wear them as a badge. When she speaks on a subject and starts in on a tangent I believe it is because she is privileged enough to literally sit around all day and consume information and espouse it back. And this can make someone interesting but mostly it makes a person lose touch with reality. I do not wish Musk on her. But she needs to take accountability for some of her actions. Like body shaming Banks. And admitting to creating up to a dozen sock puppet accounts where she pretended to be a nazi and move in nazi spaces online just to immerse herself in the culture to *check it out*. She majored in psychology and philosophy in college. I think that someone can be highly intelligent yet very ignorant at the same time. Geidi Primes and Halfaxa are excellent albums. She is clearly and interesting artist. But her, and Elon's obsession with cyberpunk cyborg fascism is a deal breaker.

The fact that both Grimes and Elon were into Roko's Basilisk shows that they were in specific weird online right-wing spaces for some time. So Grimes grew up Catholic, then spent years online exposed to 4chan-adjacent/technofascist/etc rhetoric, then dated a billionaire and was surrounded by the pretentious and disconnected 0.1% for years. Her current beliefs are simply a reflection of those experiences. It's no wonder her understanding of the world is so warped.

I've always found it particularly disturbing that Musk has been on record saying that he believes Grimes is a simulation "that was perfectly created for him.” And that she also agrees. How can you gaslight someone so hard into believing your entire being is fake?
