Audi dealer master tech here and I can see the coolant leak from my PC monitor , most likely the thermostat but replace both as a unit. Ive done so many I could probably do it blind folded

I had a 2018 TTRS for a few years. Very quick car, lots of fun to drive, and that 5 cylinder sounds great. The cockpit made you feel like you were sitting in an R8.

This particular TT might be a “technical nightmare” (is it?) but owning one for 7 years and being a regular on the TT owners forum since 2014 I know the MK3 TT is definitely not known as a technical nightmare. They are good fun cars!(Like the Golf though it can suffer from waterpump/thermostat leak so worth checking it’s been changed). Interesting to learn cars still age even when not used at all. Nice video - that TT looks clean and looks good in red 👌

I'm glad he's still doing these videos, it really shows how different cars and platforms are different underneath

I was so relieved to see the video of you in New Mexico talking about continuing the channel. Thank you. 🙏

My first experience with remote battery terminals was a 1991 NSX. I bought one in 2004 with only 55K miles on it, and a few years later the battery died. No biggie, just jump start it, right. I popped the hood, saw a set of "+" and "-" terminals, hooked it up (to my 2002 TL) to jump it and I let it charge a bit while I went to the kitchen to grab a beer. I come back and the freakin jumper cables were melting into the paint where they were draped over the bumper of the NSX!!!  I grabbed a garden glove and pulled it off but the damage was done! There was a scorchmark on the paint right next to the pop up headlight! Mother** *****! Then I read the manual and it said to only use the actual battery (in the mid-engine compartment) , not the remote terminals up front when jump starting.... 🙂

I bought a Mk I TT in 2007 coming off a 2 year lease.   The 3.2L VR6 Quattro DSG S-Line.   Still have it. Best car with the best transmission I have ever had. Gets 30 mpg.  Quick and nimble. Impossible to lose control of.  And comfortable to drive.  It can carry a lot of stuff, I have even brought home lumber in the TT.  Everything in the car still looks like new, and everything that looks like shiny metal is actual aluminum. Over 19 years of ownership and daily driving the Mk I TT has been the lowest cost of ownership I have ever had.   The one thing about Quattro, though, if you have to replace a tire, you have to replace the tire on the other side at the same time. The Quattro system really needs each pair of tires to have the same diameter or it will start to drive a little wonky.   Mine has been parked outdoors most of that time and in recent years has started to show a little age.  So I have had the top and rear spoiler repainted, and the headliner replaced when it started to pull away from the roof.  I replaced the headlamps that had crazed and the dash cluster,  But I have to say, the car has been such a joy to drive, that I have never had a qualm over investing in keeping it in excellent shape.  It’s money well spent.

It was interesting being in Gyor Hungary where all the Audi TT’s were built.  Talk about a company town.   The company I was visiting had to change their work hours because the bus schedule was set to Audi needs, and everyone else had to work around when workers were dropped off later away from the plant.

As a VW owner, I appreciate Audi owners for selflessly   beta-testing all of Volkswagen Automotive Group's new tech.

To fix the flat spot in the tires (from sitting), deflate the tire about ten pounds then drive it enough to get it warm. Then reinflate to proper pressure. Tire should be round again.

I saw one just like this the other day. Great looking car. Those final few years they really nailed the look.

I bought a 1965 E-Type Jaguar with under 18,000 miles.  It had been sitting for nearly 30 years.  I rebuilt the carbs, fuel system, suspension, steering, brakes and drove it for a few weeks.  Then the engine and gearbox seals gave out!  All fixed now, but the advice about seals is 100% correct.  BTW, both gearbox seals and the front main seal are modern lip seals with a spring.  The rubber material shattered like glass when removed!

thanks for pointing out the jumper terminals under the hood, I got a car with a battery in the trunk and would have really goofed that up if I needed a jump

I owned a 1998 Audi A8 for a while. Loved it. 300hp, super quiet and comfortable highway cruiser. Nightmare electronics. Kept having one problem after another. Finally got rid of it.

I’m torn whether the first or final gen is the best looking TT.
Also great transition to the ad read!

Ttrs is a dream car

I wanted one of these cars so bad when I was younger. When I was finally able to afford one it was a toss up between this and a SS Camaro back in 2012. I heard all the bad stuff about the maintenance and I decided to go with the camaro because I knew how to work on an American V8 myself. I knew nothing about Audis only that I thought they looked good. That camaro lasted me 6 years and 140k miles when I sold it. No issues at all and I modded the hell out of it. I still to this day wish I could of had a TTS just to say I owned one though lol.

I got my wife one of these. We have replaced the front radiator, oil pan, active suspension, blower motor, forward/aft seat motor and of course a couple of water pumps.

We just hit 160,000kms here in Australia. So I guess it could be worse. But for only a 10 year old car. I would like it to be a bit more reliable. I personally wouldnt recommend one unless your an enthusiast, can source parts yourself or have a good indy mechanic.

This was my 4th TT. Have previously owned 2x MK1s, 1x MK2 TTS and now the MK3 TTS. The MK is the best driving by far.

I remember when these were first introduced.  Jeeze, now I’m outliving models beginning to end.   The first generation had to have a spoiler added to the rear trunk lid as the car was unstable at high speeds.
