In the 2000s, Platinum Dunes became one of the most controversial names in horror. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form helped launch a remake boom with new versions of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, Friday the 13th, The Hitcher, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Horror fans hated them, but audiences kept showing up. Then something changed.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 definitely kicked off all these horror remakes some good and some really bad

TCM remake will always have a special place in my heart lol I was 10 when I watched it and I didn’t even know it was a remake until I was an adult and more into horror lol

The thing about Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street is that those movies have that fun 80s vibe that cannot be re-created.

I thought Jackie Earle Haley was a good choice man, especially after Rorshach in the Watchmen. Ya win some, ya lose some. Thanks for the video JoBlo, you guys have been cranking them out!

Friday the 13th should of had a good amount of sequels after , it was honestly pretty good . There had been way worst movies from that franchise . Plus that 09 film was a love letter to the first 4 movies when you really think about it

Because I was a kid, 6 years old when the texas chainsaw massacre reboot came out, i always got excited when I saw the platinum dunes logo.

I never got the hate for the Friday the 13th remake; I thought it was fine. I liked it. Now, the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, that was awful.

Nice job. The bay ' explosions ' would have helped all of them 😂❤

If you ask me, PG-13 horror combined with A Nightmare On Elm Street, with a dash of SCREAM, 4 is what killed the Platinum Dunes train. The Fog, When A Stranger Calls, PROM NIGHT, etc all made people hate remakes that were PG-13 in the slasher genre. When Nightmare failed to make people happy, they had enough. Then Kirby pointed out how many remakes had been done in 2011.
