The first JT tour was in 1987, when the album was releaed.
The 2017 tour was to mark the 30th anniversary. I attended the London show.
The video creator here has edited the two tours together where possible to compare and contrast

Fun fact: All names dropped at the end of the concert, Willie Williams l, Gavin Friday, etc were either childhood friends and adolescence... U2's crew, guitar tech, drum tech etc have been with them for 40 + years. Their longtime manager was Paul McGuinness.... Antoin Corbin has been a recurring artist on their album covers since UF.

“There’s no end to grief, that’s how I know there’s no end to love” comes from U2’s own “California (There is No End to Love)”

Great reaction as always

That last song is “The Little Things That Give You Away” from their 2017 album Songs of Experience. The full album  and the song itself had not yet been released at the time but U2 were testing it out which is why the crowd got excited when Bono introduced it as a song of experience.

Definitely one of my favorite songs of theirs.  I do agree it was a great show closer considering they started the show with pre-Joshua Tree songs, played the Joshua tree, played post Joshua tree songs, and finally closed with a future song.

Anytime I've seen U2, they really knew how to open a concert. The lights would go down, the crowd would lose it and then BAM! It would start like the drop of a rollercoaster. They got right into it! Excited to see how this opens.

I love how the fans are singing so loud that they are drowning out Bono at various times.  It must have been amazing to be there.

Two seconds after One Tree Hill starts, my eyes are watering. That song hits me with high emotional impact every time. My favorite U2 track.

The idea was to play hits that led to The Joshua Tree, play the album in entirety and then play what came after that plus ending it with a new song.

You joked about the heart attack... it turns out that a year before this tour, Bono actually had open heart surgery to replace a valve that was endangering his life. He didn't talk about it publicly - no one knew. But I remember seeing this show 3 times, and remember loving it, but thinking that Bono looked more tired and didn't have quite the same strength to his voice - of course, I didn't know why, and I was so excited to finally hear these songs live, that I didn't register it much. It was also a summer tour in the US, and a million degrees outside. But when the news came out in 2022 with his memoir, I was like - WHOA - that explains so much! And when you consider they did this massive Joshua Tree tour, and then immediately followed it up with the Songs of Experience tour, all in the 2-3 years after major heart surgery - it's absolutely amazing. And I'll tell you what - not everyone loved the Songs of Experience album, but the tour was great. And he has said, and I agree, that his singing actually got better once he didn't have the same lung capacity to scream all the songs.  I do sometimes miss the strength of his early days, but there is a tenderness to his singing now that is so moving. And he still gets some pretty powerful vocals out there, too!

Sunday Bloody Sunday / New Year's Day / Bad / Pride / Streets / Still Haven't Found / With Or Without You is AN INSANE BEGINNING. Iconic songs that most bands would KILL for. Epic concert!

I was 5 feet from Bono when he knelt to sing Mothers of the disappeared in Mumbai.

When the screen goes red we know what's coming next... the journey down that street.

Note:  During One Tree Hill, that is not Native Americans being shown. The song is dedicated to Greg Carroll who worked for U2 and died in an accident running an errand. Greg is from New Zealong. He is Maori, who are indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand. I believe those pics are of him. (or it could be his loved ones, I couldn't see well)

Drove from Denmark to Berlin to see this tour 🙂 Supreme Concert

That photo at the very end is the cover of the then new album Songs of Experience.
