I'm Australian. You mentioned Eucalypt, i have never heard of such being common enough for firewood in the UK. California yes.
If you use Eucalypt wood for heating as i do ( months of sub zero min temps in much of populated Australia, despite the beliefs of the world), you definitely see the case for a powered splitter, but more in the 30 ton + range.

Get yourself some pallets or make a table to push your big chunks onto the other side of your splitter. So you don’t have to keep picking up all the chunks. That will help streamline your process and make it go even faster. You can also make an extension for the valve lever so you don’t have to reach so hard for it and if you put the splitter up on a pallet or something like that you don’t have to be bending over the whole time you’re splitting
Farmertec or holzforma make good copies of older huskys and stihls that should work for years if you’re just using it for firewood.

get those rounds off the floor onto block - yes its a £20 maul but you'd save the edge and put a edge on the maul or get a Fiskars x27 splitter or a heirloom Hultafors Bruk heavy splitter (BBR got one after me) and invest in a 24-25" bar - your back will thank you

When you mentally amortize the capital coast of your tools, you will be able to feel less uncomfortable in the purchase of new items, like the splitter, or replace old, like the chain saw. These are how you make your money, they are not luxury items. I don't know how the corporate taxes are done where you are but there are usually ways that things needing replacement are written off at the fiscal year end. Check with your accountant. I can appreciate that 800 quid sounds like a lot, and it is, but that is a business expense, not a personal one. It won't take long to pay itself off by reducing the hours needed to do the same job -- 8 hours to split 12 bags vs the same time to do 50 bags. That's about only a quarter the time and a quarter the wages.
