IU is one of the most beloved singers in Korea. For the past 18 years, almost every song she has released has reached No. 1 on Korea’s music charts. She is also the most-streamed artist on Korea’s music platform, with over 9 billion streams.

The Korean public has given her the title “the nation’s little sister,” and she is also an idol to many idols themselves. She is deeply loved for her beauty, voice, songwriting, and acting.

Throughout her career, she has won numerous awards, including Best Songwriter, Best Album, Best Female Artist, and Best Actress, among many others, with almost every project she takes on.

She is also a successful actress. In fact, in the most-watched Korean production of 2025, she played two main roles ( mom and daughter) simultaneously and broke her own record once again

I still can't believe she did the whole episode while having a cold
Crazy how busy her schedule must have been that it was better to do it than reschedule until he was feeling back at full health

IU (Lee Ji-eun) is a famous South Korean singer-songwriter and actress who made her singing debut in 2008 at just 15 years old, and her acting debut in 2011. Since then, she has grown into one of Korea’s most influential and respected artists, known for her distinctive voice, heartfelt songwriting, and versatile performances. With numerous chart-topping hits, prestigious awards, sold-out concerts, and acclaimed acting roles, IU has built an extraordinary legacy across both music and television.

Now is 33 years old already. But still the best in Korea!

As of 2026, she is 34 years old. She made her debut in the music industry at age 16 on September 18, 2008 (September 17 in the U.S.).
At a recent concert, she personally shared that she suffers from a patulous Eustachian tube (PET). Consequently, her September concert and full-length album release were canceled, though she recently released two self-composed tracks included on the album.

She had a cold at that time, but she still absolutely nailed Killing Voice! 😭👏

My most favorite IU's songs

좋은 날 (2010)

너랑 나 (2011)

밤편지 (2017)

IU, beyond her amazing streak of No.1 songs, is also an accomplished composer and producer who wrote a long list of her own songs.  In addition, in recent years, she conquered another artistic field in acting as she collected a number of acting awards in her dramas and movies.  Moreover, no one should overlook IU's philanthropic activities during the years of her unbelievable success.

IU debuted when she was 15. Gen 2 KPop and still going strong! You need to listen to her hit the high note on 'Good Day'. You will truly appreciate her talent.

She was 29 actually! In the Korean age.
The whole concept of her album at the time was bidding farewell to her twenties.

She is the GOAT <3 thank you for your reaction

Hej Tim,
wow now you are on a roll.
First my favorite Band (Band-Maid). and now my favorite soloist IU.
Thank you !
If you have not done it already, react to the recording session for Love Wins all its amazing stuff.

PLS REACT TO LOVE WINS ALL LIVE VERSION 😭😭😭😭

Yeah she is adorable, so sweet, so cute, so bright... yeah this is our IU 💜

Would you believe she played a TV role of a mass killer condemned to guide the souls of the dead to the afterlife for 800 years?

Since you reacted to this Killing Voice for IU, checkout her new releases "From This Star" and "Dear My Crazy Soulmate".
"Dear My Crazy Soulmate" is about her friendship with her best friend for 16 years.

Would you believe she played a young mother of three who loses a child to a hurricane? And later in the series played a second role of her own college age daughter?

Also: if you understand it in Korean, the song at 13:18 she is doing song funky bending and interesting creative phrasing of the words. I’m sure that might be hard to get without knowing the Korean. But think of it as almost like the way rap lyrics can bend words around to make new sounds

During the time of this video she was using her ‘Korean age’ which is sort of +1, they count the time in the womb. You’ll have to google to see the specifics
