Amanda’s life revolved around partying. Drinking, drugs, music festivals, relationships, and a huge social circle had become so intertwined with her identity that even when a doctor warned her that continuing to use drugs could kill her, she couldn’t imagine stopping.

As her substance use continued, Amanda began experiencing seizures. Eventually, after taking a 30-day break from alcohol and drugs, she suffered another seizure while driving, crashed into a light pole, and ended up in the ICU. She says she experienced around 50 more seizures in the hospital, spent days in a coma, and was told she had died for approximately five minutes.
