🚨 LEAVE THESE PEOPLE ALONE (I'M WATCHING) 🚨

We're back on the longer videos! This was honestly a simple edit for how long the episode ended up being. Anyway, I've got a laser hair reduction scheduled for today. The last time went... well it went painfully. So I'm kinda nervous. Wish me luck!

The situation with Wolfey breaks my fucking heart, in his video he puts being SEXUALLY ASSAULTED FREQUENTLY BY FANS as one of the "lesser reasons" why hes not going to events. Like he got so used to that happening that it isn't the huge fucking deal it really is in his mind.. NO ONE DESERVES TO BE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED REGARDLESS OF GENDER.

Repeated incompetance is malice.

Everytime something bad happens to someone on a convention or a concert, everyone says "We have to secure these things" and then nothing happens. I noticed this the past 10-ish years. It sucks that noone really does anything to ensure safety.

@mattguy1773 10 months ago

Twitch is pro assault at this point :(

@PupGamer93 10 months ago

What sucks is one of the first lesson we are supposed to learn as children is "Keep your hands to yourself".

Anecdotally, I can say that the security checkpoint at the front door of twitchcon was severely lacking. I brought a camera bag to hold extra lenses and film rolls (that is to say, hefty, not a light empty bag) and the guy at the metal detector literally didn't check it. I handed it to him and he (without looking) unzipped it and rezipped it without a pause and handed it back to me on the other end of the metal detector. If I'd had a nefarious purpose, literally all I would have had to have done was watch the checkpoint for a few minutes to see who wasn't doing their job.

The Christina Grimmie incident should've been a huge lesson learned on the need for better security at events. If the security wasn't good enough to protect friggin' Emiru, what hope is there for any streamer?

@LagrimaArdiente 10 months ago

That Wolfey video is so heartwrenching because the situation with him is so bad that he doesn't even rank his constantly being sexually assaulted as high on his list of issues with the in-person events.

I hope he, Emiru, and everyone else who have experienced these things get all the support, time to recover and safety that they need.

Twitch doesnt care about victims and thats been proven recently with the whole situation where a female streamer sexually assaulted a dude ON STREAM and got a 24hr ban, followed by a 7 day ban. Thats it. That’s how they treat these people.

@Loveless1128 10 months ago

Let's not forget the unmasking of some VTubers for "verification" purposes, and then some fan gifts not being returned after screening or something.

@jupiterrising97 10 months ago

This has been happening more and more publicly across entertainment industries this year, and it's wild. Billie Eilish got grabbed by a fan at one of her concerts a month or two ago. Ariana Grande JUST THIS WEEK got grabbed by a fan at the Wicked: For Good premiere while she was walking alongside Cynthia and Michelle. Cynthia was the one that sprang into action first, grabbing the guy and shoving him off of her, and apparently this same guy has been seen doing the same shit to other celebrities. S.Coups from the K-Pop group Seventeen got grabbed at a concert while event staff were literally on either side of him!

We've been talking for YEARS about parasocial relationships, and it feels like talking about it is no longer actually doing anything, because people have turned it into a badge of honor instead of the criticism it is meant to be. Celebrities, streamers, Youtubers, game devs, etc. are not your friend and not your toy.

@Pibblepunk 10 months ago

Literally nobody should be going to Twitchcon ever again. This is an unforgivable fumble.

@jonathanvilario5402 10 months ago

Remember Christina Grimmie. She was killed by one of her 'fans'. That's why this is such scary situation.

Crispy casually dropping the lore that he’s a saxophone player in a random ad of theirs is kind of incredible.

@Sunkensunn 10 months ago

The CEO’s response was actually disgusting. They didnt have appropriate security in place. And even if they did it is never the victims fault that some dude decided to assault them?!!

@TigerW0lf 10 months ago

I feel like this needs to be a People vs. Conventions lawsuit at this point

@quelreve 10 months ago

It's the "They're celebrities, getting harassed is part of the gig" argument I've seen soooo many times being applied to people who don't have nearly the same protection that big celebrities would have at venues that the organizers really don't care about. Pardon the pessimism, but if venues and cons don't take this seriously, it's only a matter of time before we have a tragedy instead of a scandal

@edb2863 10 months ago

This is anecdotal, but i have personally experienced this kind of behaviour at literallt every level of event. Festivals, cons, open mics, even standard gigs. And I'm a literal unknown performing musician. I'm no one. So it does not surprise me it happens when you have millions of followers. Events staff have literally told me i was lying, or that they didnt believe me, or that it wasnt a big deal. Police wont do anything without proof, naturally. It's a sad state of affairs

I wasn't even a creator. My very first and last convention I went to was small, but that didn't stop me from getting "glomped" multiple times. One person tried to carry me off. Thankfully I had friends and I struggled so they didn't get far. I didn't even have a good cosplay. I dressed up like Pikachu but made my outfit out of a yellow tee shirt and pants. Ive never had people grab me like that before. It's terrifying!
