AoT is what made me accept that media analysis can never be "objective" because people will always uphold authors in different standards from each others.

I geuinely cannot imagine what compels people to defend this ending with all their might.
Its genuinely either b/c they are a eremika shipper and this fulfills their cabin fantasy
or they are larps who joined the fandom when s4 dropped, and did not understand the story at all.

Ending up with the story embracing fatalism after 130+ chapters of determinism embedded in the narrative disqualifies this chapter from any benefit of doubt.

Seeing this on my feed almost gave me a heart attack.

Thank God Unc still got it.

Apparently grishia was so angry with Carla's death he gave the founder to eren knowing fully well that's gonna lead to his death.
Grishia was so angry by his wife getting killed, he got his only son killed.

I remember being younger, loving Attack on Titan ever since I was a child.

Then, I remember seeing the hype of the Rumbling Saga. I was there for every chapter, I even rewatched the series! And like an airplane crashing through a building, 139 hit.

I've never felt fulfilled in anything I've watched ever since, until I started going out there to read more stories.

139 is the greatest solely cause of the mass hysteria that was the community's reaction to the ending no ammount of slander or agenda can never reach the high those few weeks

“great art is often challenging” MMMMM

Ngl I forgot how crazy isayamas paneling was

I read the series for the first time and finished volume 34 two days ago. I knew going into it that the ending was divisive and I was prepared to be disappointed but that final chapter was something else...

Eren's plan just makes no sense. His romantic feelings for Mikasa came out of nowhere. Armin was completely destroyed as a character: first getting mad at Eren for hurting Mikasa's feelings then thanking him for committing a genocide in one of the worst lines of all time. The whole Ymir being in love with a guy who showed her nothing but abuse for 2000 years is insulting, and that being the entire reason the story happened... just wow.

Somehow the chapter kept getting worse. Eren killed his mother? And he did the rumbling because he's stupid? Also, after the three year skip the narrator tells us that Eren's rumbling basically accomplished nothing and Reiner sniffs a letter. What the hell did I just read?

Never miss a AOT vid from deku 🙂‍↕️

1:04 all love biggest of bros

I also love how the whole Historia plotline went NOWHERE. Isayama was setting this things up for a reason. Why would Historia marry and be in love with a no face no name character that bullied her when she was younger. Historia was one of the best women characters in the show and he just threw her character away just like with Eren

I tried to give the ending the benefit of the doubt on a re-read and re-watch a while back. I thought, "Hey, maybe my knee jerk reaction was too harsh and I was being way too emotional." But, no. No matter which way you look at it, this ending fails spectacularly.

One part about the ending stuck with me in particular. I wish I had the timestamp for it, but you talked about it in video. Prior to chapter 139, we were lead to believe that Ymir hated her life as a slave under King Fritz so much that she took her own life, leaving her kids with her abuser. She had no clue what would have happened to the three after her death. I will say, that did open the door for an interesting conversation. Did Ymir love her three children, or did she see them as more of a punishment? Did she feel bad for leaving them? Maybe this is just where my head went, but these were the kinds of questions I asked.

That being said, all of that nuance was trashed when chapter 139 came out and Isayama basically went, "Just kidding. Ymir was in love with her abuser the whole time." What? Why? I know a lot of people throw around the term "Stockholm syndrome" for this situation, but that doesn't work because we don't have any examples of kindness that Fritz showed Ymir.

This ending will be at the front of my mind for a while. Ten years at least. I mean, it's been about 5 years already, so 5 more to go.

you mistook the ending - the ending of AOT is actually made for yt shorts and tiktok tuff edits with a "foreshadowing" caption

Amazing vid as always, I wanted to ask you what do you think about ANR? I personally never read/watched it but I'd still like to know

thanks for the addendum

A thing I always talk about is Errens plan makes no sense. There are 2 options. Wether Erren made it when he touched Historia, or when he touched Zeke. Both create massive problems.

If he did it when he touched Histoira, that means everything was an act. Oscar worthy performance even in his own head. Nonsense.

If it's when he touched Zeke, that means Erren was actually serious and the whole "Erren was always a crybaby" "The real Erren is back" from chapter 139 is bullshit.

The whole "His mind was jumbled" is just a cop out blanket statement to get around this, especially considering Erren had a handle of time, ESPECIALLY when he "Showed Grisha certain memories". That was never answered btw, why Grisha would tell Zeke to stop Erren, then give Erren the Titan. There is so much shit left unanswered but here is my main point that no ending defender can rebuttal.

Exampie. zekes death stopping the rumdiing makes no sense. In season 2, Dinas Titan was dead and Erren could still control the titans. Here are all the answers I've gotten from people who accuse me of just not understanding.

- Ymir stopped it

- They are just following the last command

Erren cant control collosals without the blood link

Erren was controlling the collosals manully, he was commanding them in season 2

Zeke stopped them

- it's up to interpretation

Remember all these people think they're right, and talk down to you for not understanding. And this is just one example. They do this for everything. The way they explain Historias parallels with Ymir mean nothing and how Mikasa and Ymir are the same are even more insane.

Forgot about those panels in chapter 12
