Guess who was extremely suicidal and never told her Dr when asked...me! I had a fear of being placed on a 72 hour hold against my will. So, this is not uncommon. Luckily after a lifetime of severe depression I am now symptom free..and off all medication. By the grace of God, TMS treatments saved my life.

I learned not to tell if I'm wanting to off myself. The day my legs quit working, I was placed on a psychiatric hold because I said I would rather die than be stuck in a wheelchair. I managed to assault the security guard, get my phone back, and call an attorney. I was able to leave, and went to a different hospital, where they helped with my legs, instead of my mental health. My legs are working these days! Healthcare in this country is awful. It's like fast food almost. Get them in, Get them out, and bill as much as possible. They don't care.

Speaking from experience the hardest thing to do is “stick with a plan” when you’re in the throws of a mental health crisis

Being in a huge mental health crisis and doing appointments by Zoom is insane. I am just about 82, have had mental health issues most of my life. I did have some good years but still take meds for it. Five years ago I was given an antibiotic for a UTI. I took 1 pill for three days and my hold world was change forever. It was a Black Box med for people 60 years and under. I was 76. I have had many meds that have had bad side effects. My life is not good. Chronic pain and hardly ever leave the house. I pray for those little babies. I also pray for their Mom. I cannot even imagine what she was going through. Mental Illness is horrible.

I can speak from experience that there is a very real fear of admitting suicidal thoughts! Once you do that, you lose all control over your medical decisions and are held in wards that are scary and even more depressing than the outside world! I had severe PPD after my fifth and last child. Everything seemed very real and very out of control!

It makes total sense to be angry about the fashion choice of wearing a bow, but not about the decision to strangle each of her children for several minutes, and then asking whether her legs were straight or if she needed a lawyer.

Cora wouldn’t have cared if a prosecutor seeking justice for her death wore a bow, but she could never forgive her own mother for cruelly strangling her and cutting her life short at just five years old.

For me personally, I can only talk to mental health professionals if I can "connect" with them. I've only told the ones I can connect with how I'm really feeling. I think that for me, I'd only be totally honest with them if they show understanding and empathy because I always have felt ashamed of my feelings and especially my intrusive thoughts.

At 16 minutes the MD describes the exponentially fast taper of Seroquel, it was diminished by 25mg per day. Protocol dictates the taper to be diminishing the Seroquel by 25mg per 1-2 week’s duration for each step down.

This case is heartbreaking on so many levels. Thank you Lauren and Grayson for your great coverage. Prayers for Grayson and her family, I can’t imagine how hard this week has been for her.

This is why I don’t go to the doctor. I had PPD with my second child and they were no help at all, and my husband was disgusted with me because I had it. He called me ungrateful. These professionals and doctors need to be removed from their profession. It is so sad.

There is a real skill involved in how to question and listen to patients in order to get accurate answers. I think it's much more effective to use softer questions than a blunt "do you have s**cidal ideation?" to figure out if someone has s**cidal ideation. Especially for someone like Lindsay who had been so high functioning and high masking and didn't have much of a history of needing mental health help. It can feel almost embarrassing to admit something like that so bluntly.

I want to thank the people who are speaking up about their Mental Health experiences. It takes courage, but it shows the cracks or gorges and canyons that people fall through.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This reminds me of the Lauren Dickason case in 2021 in New Zealand who suffocated her 3 young daughters only weeks after immigrating from South Africa, she had a major depressive disorder, sentenced to 18 years and to be deported on release. She also did it while her husband was out of the house.

A lot of suicides happen as a result of an unstable person having an immediate impulse and zero impulse control. There are a lot of suicides where the person just interacted normally with loved ones and then… jumped in front of a moving car. The meds can make this complete absence of impulse control even worse.

We need more resources for people like Lindsey who are high functioning, have support and a home and good things to live for but STILL need severe intervention. Those things all masked her severe need.

It took me at least 3 months of ssri before effects fully kicked in. I can’t believe how quickly meds were shifted around here.

39:36 WOW 😮 that was the FIRST thing my GP did when I eventually went to my doctor with my mum, jittery and in tears, saying that I think I’m having a nervous breakdown, when my son was a year old.
I was so scared they’d take him away from me because I’m having a mental breakdown so I put it off for ages until my family started to notice.
The first thing my doctor said was “let’s check your thyroid”.
I walked out thinking he was a crap doctor… he wasn’t. He saved my life. I had Graves Disease. My thyroid was off the scale hyper!!
Just a few weeks later on carbimazole (I think that’s what it was callled). I felt soooooo much better. I sent my GP a christmas card thanking him lol 😂
Unfortunately I kept relapsing and no longer have a thyroid but it’s sooooooooo important to check the thyroid with suspected mental health. It’s not always a mental health issue.

Noone will ever understand ppp unless you suffered it. Im talking of experience. Its excruciating.
Symptoms of PPP are very simular to Bipolar. Thankfully I got the help I needed and I am doing great now.

Covid created way more devastation than we can imagine. All the Zoom consultations and lack of human touch.

I’ve had 5 boys and had postpartum depression with all of them. My first child at 17 was prob the worst and I knew nothing about it. I self medicated with marijuana at first and was so confused why I felt the way i did. I never would in a million years hurt my child. I wanted to die and would cut myself to relieve the pain. You do feel so alone and failed medication made it even more confusing. I feel so bad for Lindsay but my heart hurts for those babies and their daddy. This case is so hard as a juror I dunno what I would do.
