Part 2 from the Scania booth at IAA2026!
This time, we were shown Scania's special edition "Longline."
It's an S-cab with a four-step entry system.
The moment you step inside, you'll gasp at the sheer size.
▼Longline Interior
・Incredibly spacious! The cab depth is completely different from the standard model.
・The bed is also considerably wider.
・Plenty of legroom.
・You can lie down if you recline the seats.
・It was a living space on a different level, something you rarely experience.
▼Exterior and Equipment
・Simple design overall, with black paint inside the grille.
・770S V8 model with an S-cab, top-of-the-line specifications.
・2-differential model with a lift axle (trailer axle) at the rear.
・No coupler guides due to show specifications.
・Black wheels, which are becoming more common in the US.
▼Two Very Rare Features
The first is a mechanism where the air deflector moves smoothly when pulled out and becomes a step when lowered.
The second is a cylinder attached to the upper air deflector. This vehicle is equipped with hydraulically controlled air deflectors that can be raised and lowered.
▼Is it likely to run in Japan?
In Japan, there are restrictions on the overall length of the trailer, so a head of this length would leave almost no space for the trailer section, making it practically the same as a single truck. It would be difficult under current regulations.
However, in Europe, manufacturers are developing such vehicles to provide drivers with a more comfortable working environment. Learning from European culture could improve the comfort and efficiency of Japanese trucks.
▼Side note: The other V8 770S is incredible!
The body is boldly cut out to reveal the engine.
The color scheme and paintwork are amazing.
The aero kit appears to be a one-off.
Two exhaust pipes extend horizontally from the cutouts, venting from both sides.
And be sure to turn up the volume and listen to the V8 sound!
Furthermore, an event was held at the venue where people pulled the truck using a belt.
The moment the truck, weighing 6-7 tons just for the head, slowly begins to move is a must-see.
We also handle cage trolleys in our work, and some weigh 800-900 kg each. Trucks weigh many times that... I was truly impressed.
Outdoors, there were also displays of crane trucks and hooklift trucks, making for a very fulfilling experience.
Please be sure to check out our next video!
