I always thought mobbing was mostly about driving predators away... didn’t realize crows could actually take it that far. Three crows ganging up on a hawk sounds like something straight out of a crime movie

I have a pigeon coop with a broken door on my roof that's filled with crows and ravens
My birds like me I believe
I get gifts from them with coins and dollar bills they find
They leave me when it gets cold but return when it gets warm
I feed them corn popcorn seeds and leftovers that I don't eat
They like my cats and dog too my cats like them back they interact well with each other
We've been doing this for 5-6 years & we have yet to have a negative experience

Imagine being an Apex predator... And still getting bullied by a crow 😂

once drove past miles of trees, solid black, saw more crows than leafs. I became Very aware of the fact that if I pissed one off, I could quite literally Die in a black cloud of death. They literally had the numbers to kill me and I would not stand any kind of a chance without heavy HEAVY artillery.

The end result of mobbing can even be fatal. I’ve seen, right in front of my house, three crows kill a hawk. One kept dive bombing the hawk until it chased it. The other two swooped in and hit the hawks wings, causing it to crash into the street and die. An actual gang hit.

I’ve seen smaller birds,in general, do this to raptors. The raptors would kill them if they could but as it’s happening, they can’t.

I've seen a single male Mockingbird which is maybe 10% their size mob a murder of crows.

Another example of teamwork and intellgence being utterly OP.

Long time ago.. we had a cat that was a ferocious bird ender.  As a kid playing in our yard included hiding behind bushes and we find so many decaying bird corpses it was .. impressive.  After a couple of years of this we were walking with our cat following along and I saw something astounding.  A swarm of crows were screaming bloody murder and dive bombing my little grey cat.  I was maybe 8 or 9 years old but I understood immediately that this was a coordinated and highly targeted plan. I also understood that my cat also sort of “deserved” the abuse.  And here, some 5 decades later I finally learned the word “mobbing” and that it’s standard crow behavior.  And yes, it works.  My cat never left the house again without slinking around from bush to bush for cover.  We ended up moving shortly after this started anyway.  I don’t think it was at our cat’s request, but I think she was relieved to be away from this gang of black dive bombers.

I saw a mob of crows battle an army of squirrels over trees.

I've seen sparrows do the exact same thing to crows.

I always look in the direction crows are looking because I know they are watching something normally a predator and for my area it's typically foxes.

Me encanta cómo combinas una buena narración con ilustraciones tan creativas.

Humans only need to look to nature for solutions.

Las expresiones faciales son muy divertidas y dan mucha personalidad a los personajes.

And yet the humble mockingbird will chase them off

I once got bullied by crows when I was 15-16 years old..Even Humans are not an exception for them 😢 cannot forget that day.. they kept hitting my head with their beak

Reminds me of incessant spam calls I get

Amazing history
