430,330 views

Dick Durbin turned the Jack Smith Senate hearing into a fiery examination of Donald Trump’s record, revisiting the 2020 election fight, January 6 and the classified-documents investigation.

Durbin pushed back against Republican attacks on former Special Counsel Jack Smith, arguing that the hearing should focus on the facts surrounding the investigations rather than what he called baseless conspiracy theories. He also highlighted Trump’s pressure on election officials, the Capitol attack and the handling of classified government documents.

Watch the full exchange from the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing as Durbin challenges the Republican narrative and puts Trump’s most controversial episodes back in the spotlight.

The GOP will roast a man that did his job as he was hired to do . All to protect the criminal he investigated legally. Wake up America and vote the enablers out in Nov. It could be our last chance to stop the biggest crime wave in history

Thank You Mr. Durbin. Jack Smith is an American hero and should be treated accordingly. This from a 78 year old retired once-proud American citizen!

Senate Republicans are complicit with the attempted cover-up. The Treason and attempted Coup of the country

@CynicalTimes 2 days ago

The Republicans are going to regret this. The public is going to hear more of Trump's illegal actions than the party would like. Thanks Republicans we needed a public review of Trump's crimes right before the midterms!

Every single person that participated in the January 6 insurrection against our country needs to be tried and sentenced accordingly… that includes the president his entire stand the Republican Party, the house this in it and the Supreme Court..
You don’t get to burn the house down and then benefit from the rebuilding

If you were paying attention this was all known at the time but to hear it recapped like this really hammers home the pattern of abuses committed by Trump. Relentless in his criminality and complete disregard for the law.

Jack has the goods on stupid and his administration, the only reason he's back at this is because of midterm stunt and trying to prove him wrong, this will backfire because he has the truth on his side

Senators Grassley and Kennedy spent the majority of their time in this hearing firing off ad hominem smears and insults against prosecutor Jack Smith.

On that notorious January 6th day, tens of millions of our American neighbors watched in horror and disgust as a violent mob sent to the capitol building on order from departing president Trump attacked capitol police. Four officers died defending our elected congressmen and congress women - including Grassely and Kennedy . Those who were convicted of their crimes were shamelessly pardoned by the most corrupt leader our planet has known since the big bang.

The idiocy and sleaze of Grassley and Kennedy could not have been exceeded by a horror novelist attempting to create characters of baseless evil. This hearing, if anything will increase the magnitude of the blue wave that is now gathering in oceans around the planet.

I can't believe them trying to prosecute Jack Smith! I am so so disgusted with Josh Hawley and Cruz trying to tear down Jack Smith, he did what he was hired to do, follow the evidence and follow the law and politics wasn't brought into it. But republicans keep saying he did, HE DID NOT BRING POLITICS INTO IT!!!!! Jack Smith did a spectacular job and found Trump guilty of crimes which he comitted.

The collusion, deception, vindictiveness, and relentless dishonesty of GOP leadership are deeply disillusioning. Our government looks corrupt to the core, and the constant stream of distractions has left people struggling to tell what is true. America is being led by people whose cruelty and incompetence are matched only by their contempt for the public trust. They have treated decency and honor as weaknesses, and the damage they are doing to our country will outlast them.
