My first 7 days walking the Camino de Santiago alone from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Logroño — nervous, dealing with foot pain, extreme heat, yet completely in love. I'm Megan, 51, and I'm walking the Camino Frances solo as my "midlife leap" away from the paycheck and toward living with passion and purpose.
Week 1 was the hardest start: crossing the Pyrenees to Roncesvalles, blisters by Day 3, 35-degree heat across La Rioja, and moments I loved and hated because I had to get past the fear.
In this vlog, I give you the straight goods on what Week 1 is really like — what hurt, what helped my feet, how I handled the heat, where I stayed, and why I'd do it all again tomorrow.
If you're planning your own Camino, or dreaming of a midlife adventure, I really want to hear about your experience — please leave those in the comments and please don't forget to subscribe to follow Week 2 from Logroño to Burgos.
