Man, Rick’s mullet was legendary 😂

Hey Allen,  Glad to see you're still at it.  This video popped up on my YouTube today and it took me a few seconds to realize it was my layout.  lol   I remember how much fun it was doing the video and how nervous I was. It's still hard for me to watch  the video but I did see some things that I had forgotten about and how I did it.   I still have my copy of the video but I don't have a VHS player anymore . 🙂 Thank's for releasing the video so I can share it with family and friends.  Hope your YouTube channel does well.  Thanks again for all you've done in the hobby.  Rick 🙂

I've been an Allen Keller (and "Great Model Railroads") fan since the 1980s and want to thank you guys for finally releasing them onto YouTube.  Truth be told, I can't praise Allen Keller's work enough... he is a probability one of the best and most inspirational Model Railroaders of all time. Well, done and count on me as a constant viewer.

Great looking layout!

Rick's cover shot and article in MR was the inspiration for me to model the L&N (albeit in N scale) and started an on going love affair with the old reliable.
Exceptional work Allan who I have also followed since your time at Kalmbach.
From a ex patriot New Zealander now living in Perth Western Australia

I remember drooling over this layout when it was in Model Railroader, it was one of my most coveted issues. Now seeing this video Im even more blown away by the engineering behind it. The CTC board, computer programming and control, and tik-tok for example are super impressive. Thanks for sharing this video and great work Rick!

Beautiful layout man! I've shot on the Chicago Division side of the prototype at Evansville/Howell Yard, Rahm, Vincennes, Washington, and Princeton, Indiana along with Danville, Illinois. Beautiful recreation of the real deal, love how detailed this layout is

I remember this from years ago. Still a great looking layout. Rick did a fantastic job building this layout....

This was a cool flashback, for I know all these various scenes firsthand.  The Henderson sub was the first railfan photography I did, for although I modeled ATSF and Espee from my birthplace around Beaumont, TX, I spent most of my life in Clarksville, TN.  In fact, L&N was still there in the late 70's when my folks moved there.  RJ Corman and CSX had come along by the time I began shooting action around Guthrie and "Hoptown" (Hopkinsville) but got to see Seaboard System and Family Lines along the way, plus the old searchlight signals before the hoods took over.  Great layout and I remember building quite a lot with both Rix and Pikestuff products over the years.

These are nice flashbacks...  Even recall the odd Keller article in MR, if memory serves correctly (electronics perhaps?  My nearly 60-year-old memory sucks at times  lol).  Thanks for sharing these.  Wish I could remember all the layouts that were featured all those decades ago.

What a great video! Rick's design and build techniques are timeless, and since I plan to build a bridge commemorating a long-gone bridge from my hometown, I appreciate seeing how he built his. Very helpful!

Stunning layout. Still up to date even build decennia ago. A lot of useful info and very pleasant narration by Rick and Allen. Hope Rick is well and is still enjoying his 'Empire'. Wishing him and his family all the best and a big thank you for sharing this gem.

Fun to see that video. Rick is a great guy and I love his products! He’s an individual who’s had a significant impact on the hobby. Thanks Rick!

Extremely influential layout! And ive been a customer of Rix/Pikestuff for YEARS in both HO and N.

that old computer brings back memories of my first computer.   I have a few of his products on my layout, buildings, grain bins, etc.

This brings back memories of the hair dews many of us, including myself, had back in those days. 😁 Love the video.

I saw this layout in Model Railroader in 1990. It was the first layout I had ever seen with end to end operation.

What a wonderful layout. So glad you are back and sharing these shows with us again. Looking forward to more.
GOD BLESS 🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕

Great layout and great mullet!! Glad you got things worked out with YouTube and are uploading these again!

I remember it as a Smooth running layout with a purpose, and pre dcc ( dynatrol) remembering the op sessions and the people there, unfortunately some no longer with us 😊

Much thanks for another opportunity to see Rick's layout in operation.
