This may not earn the views it deserves, but I appreciate an episode with a subject matter that won't leave me depressed.

Yay! A Places episode that isnt dark and tragic!

Saw the title and immediately knew Baarle-Hertog and Baarle-Nassau would be on the list 🤣

Back when my dad was in the Navy, he was on the USS Blue Ridge for his last 1 or 2 years. She was based out of San Diego back then, so they did a lot of sailing back and forth in the Pacific. One day they had a man go overboard (I don't remember if the sailor fell, was pushed, or committed suicide), and it was around the International Date Line. The ship went back and forth across the line so many times that my dad and others on the bridge basically gave up trying to keep track of the dates and times accurately. I think everyone had started complaining about how much of a nightmare it was to keep track of everything, and the captain told them not to bother anymore, lol.

As a Minnesota resident, I instantly clicked once I saw the Northwest Angle in the title card

Point Roberts Washington State is similar to the Northwest Angle

Looks like I was too slow to mention the pens-enclave of Point Robert’s, Washington State.  1266 people and only 4.9 miles square.  Cheers!   Another great video

In the baltic sea we have a small island between finland and sweden called märket roughly translated label or dot island. If you look at the drawn border its a zig zag pattern. The island has a lighthouse on the swedish side of the island. But it has never been run by sweden but rather finland, so it was decided to include the light house in finland. All was done in good tone between sweden and finland both got equal parts of the island and it was really more important with both countries not messing up fishing rights in the baltic sea.

0:45  "borderline ridiculous" i see what you did there

The Whisky War is about as wholesome as a border dispute will ever get. :3

0:55 - Chapter 1 - Baarle hertog & baarle nassau
5:10 - Chapter 2 - Bir Tawil
9:10 - Chapter 3 - The Wakhan Corridor
13:15 - Chapter 4 - The Northwest Angle
17:50 - Chapter 5 - Madha & Nahwa
22:05 - Chapter 6 - The Caprivi Strip
27:35 - Chapter 7 - The International Date Line
32:00 - Chapter 8 - Campione de Italia
37:15 - Chapter 9 - The Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan border
42:15 - Chapter 10 - Hans Island

This has been a welcome relief from the other videos and truly connects what the channel should be about. I definitely hope to see a second part of this good job to the writer and the rest of the team that makes Simon look good.

I was not disappointed when the talk about weird borders began. Of course Baarle-Nassau/Hertog is the first on the list.

The Whiskey War should have kept going!

It's not the only US example, there Point Roberts, Washington on the left coast too.

I go to the Northwest Angle every year to go fishing. Amazing place to go.

2:09 Tractor hauling a trailer with tractor hauling caravan (aka camping trailer)??!! there are more bizarre situations in B/NL, or it's kind of old style Top Gear setting :face-green-smiling:   :face-orange-tv-shape:  :volcano-green-lava-orange:

Get those writers back in tje basement... they missed point Roberts in Washington

In April I was in Baarle and I sat at a table with half my body in Belgium and half in the Netherlands. I had Dutch cheese in the Netherlands and Belgian waffles in Belgium without standing up.

There's a wee Spanish town in France. Fully Spanish schools, laws, language and infrastructure but in France. I was there last winter a few times and can highly recommend the restaurants if your craving something different to french food while you're in the area. It's called Llívia in the Eastern Pyrenees.
