This thing about judging is rather peculiar, the one criticing it is also inevitably judging too. That is because, judgements are needed. Allah swt says, let there from amongst you be those who promote good and forbid the wrong, that is criticise and make judgements. The crucial matter is intention and ability to discern between right and wrong and unfortunately, post modernism is abandoning all forms of authority and hierarchy that everyone feels entitled to that expertise of character. We must call people to responsibility.

Waking up early and tahajjud are different things. One does not need a spiritual station to wake up early. For tahajjud, one needs a spiritual station.
