I love her explanation of what hijab is, a witnessing. It is definately not a protection from the advances of men, as I've recently discovered.

Hizab is a blessing,
Hizab is standard that I am a Muslim.
Hizab not a piece of judgement..
We should not judge with another with hizab..
Alhamdulillah..

It's a unique response towards the issue of hijab , especially from an American citizen , who had for long years lived a free life style . Tamara Grey , we , as Arab Muslims , feel very proud because you represent an extraordinary kind of sinciere , commited and open - minded Muslim women . Allah bless you . Go ahead .

this teacher is a gift to my faith & ive nothing but admiration but that those women in that context chose to respond as such doesn't mean it was the minimally acceptable response, only that its what they did. if they covered everything except one eye to see, it wouldn't be required for everyone. i see how some form of hat might be required based on the totality of the circumstances.
